Hey all! If your chromebook has a USB port, buy a USB wireless mouse. These instructions were great. But it doesn't seem worth the risk of breaking your chromebook. The creator pointed out so many delicate parts that could break easily. I appreciate that he did that. My daughter's Acer chromebook (for virtual schooling) touchpad's clicking functionality stopped working. I just plugged in a USB wireless mouse and she was back up and running. I didn't want to potentially break a chromebook I don't own.

O dropped my school computer a couple days ago and not my touchpad is push it in to much things. Can go wrong doing this really good tutorial thpugh

Have you tried resetting the chromebook? You can also try opening it up, unplugging the ribbon cable from the touchpad to the motherboard from both ends, and then plugging it back in. Sometimes the connection just needs to be refreshed.

Your computer works fine except for the mouse has disappeared from the screen? No, this is just a hardware fix for a hardware issue. You have a Chromebook?

Some model computers, yes. Most, no.

I suggst noting in both the synopsis and video: if the touchpad loosens when battery is removed and due to its bulging, replace the battery (do not puncture the battery enclosure). A bulging battery may be as common problem as touchpad gunk depending on user habits.

My laptop got water inside of it and the touchpad is too sensitive. The cursor still works but whenever I touch the pad immediately clicksI don't know what to do to clean the water out of it.

First, the computer should be turned off at once. Water in a computer can damage every component. It should be opened as much as your comfortable with and allowed to dry for at least a day or two. If the touchpad is overly sensitive, it could already be damaged. Try reseating its ribbon cable and see if that helps. If not, you may need to replace it

@@PC_Monkey okay thank you. I think I fixed it but in a different way. I was panicking and I used a hairdryer and tried to dry it through the cracks of the touchpad. Then I moved the cursor and it stopped being so sensitive. It's been more than 3 days and it works pretty much the same as how it used to. its fine but I dont know if its actually okay

Try reseating the touchpad's ribbon cable from both ends. If that fails to help, consider replacing the touchpad

If its got the same issue then yes:) This procedure will work on any laptop computer where the touchpad has developed a build-up of debris in the Touchpad area :)

@@PC_Monkey on the 4+ 15.6 only difference so far is touch pad pops the opposite directions as there’s some side tabs blocking it from going the direction on the version here.

One screw is just stuck and no matter how much I twist it it doesn’t come off. But it’s fine I’ll just keep using the mouse

@@LustShackles If the screw is stripped, you would have to drill it out. It could also be that the threading inside the computer has come loose and is spinning with the screw. Theres no good fix for that unfortunately :( You can try drilling it, but you may just have to force / break the panel to get that off :(:(:(

For me, i punched my keyboard to hard after freaking out because my fucking homework says I didnt do what i was supposed to do when i did do what i was supposed to do but it was so stupid because it didnt let me so i pounded and thats why my touchpad wont work but its fine for now i can just tap but i'll fixx it later probably

I think I'd rather pay for someone that way if they mess it up they pay for it . Too many things to go wrong ..he said be careful so many times hence 90% of people will break their Chromebook

Its true, if they break it they pay lol. However, there are a lot of ways a computer can be broken and covered up. Some people like educating themselves on DIY so they know its done right. But there are some things I still would rather have others do lol. Personal preference :)
