How to Fix a Broken Bead or a Skipped Stitch in Peyote Stitch

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Sometimes a bead breaks too far back to simply rip back your beading to the spot for a simple replacement. Or maybe you accidentally skipped a spot where a bead should be. So what do you do?
This video will teach you how to fix that pesky spot in a manner that won't leave the replacement bead sticking up higher than the ones around it!
This particular video concentrates on fixing it in flat peyote stitch as that's the most common place to find this kind of problem. But you can apply the concept to other stitches like right-angle weave, herringbone, and square stitch too!

You saved me, yet again! Was finishing a project that took a couple of weeks to get done as a gift. Last few thread paths to complete and “bang” bead popped. Jill to the rescue! Thank you!

Good information Jill. Thanks. As a knitter/crocheter this was my inclination but I hadn’t gotten around to trying it. Now I’ll have more confidence (I hope!).

I'm so glad you made this video. I have run into a case where I somehow missed a bead or it had possibly broken and I didn't notice until I had finished my project. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video Jill! I would rather do this than taking everything apart all the time!! I am very lazy when it comes to change my needle.

Question...with all that reinforcing, will that area be very stiff?

  • @JillWisemanDesigns

It's possible it would be a little stiffer than the rest, but it shouldn't make a difference in most cases.

Silk delica beads in a peyote bezel. Impossible. I won't use them for a bezel anymore because of how frequently they crack. They do have a lovely luminescence though.

Personally, I cut whereever the bead broke, and whatever comes off comes off, whatever I can save I save. This is truly the worst situation in peyote
