IT WORKED!! I went to the first repair shop he said motherboard problem. Second repair shop, he took out my harddisc and ram. Then he also said motherboard problem. Asked me to call Dell. I press D+power button a hundred times. I did not give up. Finally it worked. Thank you SOOOO MUCH!!!

Thanks man, your video saved my lots of time and money. LifeCycle of my problem was less than 5min due to this lifesaver video. 1. While working on laptop it started showing square boxes all over the screen, further screen went blank. 2. Tried restarting machine, but heard beep sounds. 3. First thought came to mind.... display problem.... 5k-15k ka chunna ;) 4. Got mentally prepared for that. 5. Need to spend 5-10 days for it got done 6. Got prepared for that. 7. Again tried to restart and counted the no. of beeps. 8. Oh its 8 beeps... lets google it. 9. Got 1st link of dell and 2nd of this video on google 10. Followed the steps from this video, RESTARTED MY LAPPY FOR 4-5 TIMES WITH D PRESSED. 11. It went all well and now my laptop behaving normal. all this happened in less than 5 mins :) Lets hope it keeps working fine. Thank you, Pratik

Awesome. You are correct, my LCD is damaged, so I have been using an external monitor until I find a replacement screen on the cheap. For some reason the error code started happening out of the blue but the fixx got me thru the trouble and my external monitor is working again.. Cheers from way out west

Qué tal. Tengo una Dell N4030 y como se estrelló el display lo desconecté de la motherboard mientras le consigo una nueva. Ahora al encenderla escucho esos 8 pitidos que se repiten. He conectado un monitor mediante la toma vga que tiene la laptop, y para que de video en esa pantalla oprimí la tecla de función especial más la de alternar pantalla, la tecla que está a la derecha de ESC. Me da video en la pantalla externa pero sigo escuchando los 8 bips. Trataré con esa combinación que recomiendas, pero, dejo pulsada la tecla D mientras oprimo varias veces la de power o igual dejo apretado power? porque se apaga si la pulsamos una vez y la soltamos. Gracias veré si se arregla.

Thanks a lot!!! I went to a nearby laptop repair center and they said that it will need a reflow or worst case changing of graphics card... quoted between Rs 2k to 6k... somehow found this link and tried the steps you gave. Bingo!! after some 10-15 attempts it worked... :-)

Dude! This helped me so much!!!! I did it once and the random colors came up! Then I saw it said repairing your PC, then diagnosing your PC! Then it loaded and the beeping stopped!!! Like without you I might've paid money when I could've fixed it for free in under a minute

Thanks brother.. It really solved after 20 attempts. Really moisture in the system causing this issue. Long press D + one click powered on (with or without power cable) solved issue.

I'm going to give you the best fix that works for me every time with this model. Make sure the power cord is unplugged!!! This is a CPU issue. To resolve do this. 1. Remove the CMOS. 2.. Take the motherboard out and remove the heatsink and processor from the device. (be careful you don't bend the pins when removing the processor) 3. Once you have removed the motherboard's heatsink and processor, place the motherboard back into chasis without the removed CPU and Heatsink. (Make sure you put the black screws for motherboard back in. There should be about 7. 4. Once that is all done, plug in the power adapter into the laptop and the place the top case with power button back onto the laptop so you can press the power button to turn it on. (sometimes the laptop will turn itself on without power button, which is ok. 5. Once the laptop is on, let if run for about 30 minutes and then unplug it. This is called an internal reflow; by which the socket is heated up and reflowed by itself for those who don't know. 6. Once is cooled offreassembled back together and whay.. no more beeps!! btw my company is called www.ifixinj.com Like and share!!

I've got this problem too! Should I press the power button and D key when starting or can I do it when the machine is up and running. If up and running, won't it just shut off? Ready to try. Just waiting to know if I do it when the computer is already on or when starting. Or, must I wait for the 8 beeps before I do it, your solution, power button and D key depressed simultaneously. I get the 8 beeps about twice a month. In other words, when I do this, should the power button be turning off or turning on when depressed?

I've done your procedure BUT After the colors appear, the PC reverts to 8 beeps.. What can i do? :(
