    HPET is an inbuilt tool in Windows which can be used to synchronize multimedia and provide smoother playback for your computer. However, if you turn it on when gaming, this tool will take away the precious calculation power of CPUs and severely hurt game performance. Therefore, you'd better disable it

    So if it’s good for your cpu and stuff, why doesn’t the company do those settings as default, I get the disabling unwanted startup apps but other settings, they must have a drawback or something right?

  • @marrquessss

    @marrquessss

    2 жыл бұрын

    there are many reasons why companies dont do this as default. The first one is like u said a possibility of a drawback that the company or manufacturer does not want to be responsible if any problems happens with the device. But in the majority of cases pc optimizations are not auto implemented by the manufacturer of ur pc bcs it depends a lot on the hardware u are currently running. For example, ultra performance power plan is the best option of a power plan, but its not selected by default because some hardwares wont properly adapt to that. Another example is multithread rendering, that u want to have on if u play games. However, it cannot be default because its only recommended for cpus with at least 4 cores. So not always the best option will be selected by default, but it doesnt have necessarily a drawback, like in this case ur just altering base values on regedit so it really not that big of a deal.

  • @marrquessss

    @marrquessss

    2 жыл бұрын

    although i dont really recommend messing with HPET (high precision event tikmer) and disabling like he did on the video bcs that causes a lot of trouble and its not related directly with ur cpu usage, but the power plan thing, startup apps and regedit are just basic stuff so there isnt really any drawbacks.

    First thing I noticed was that If I disable the internet connection, the problem stops, which is odd since there was almost zero internet "Receive and Send" bytes being active at all in the first place. Number two. If the problem pops up, then you want to check Task Manager to see which apps or services are keeping the CPU so busy. Well that does not work, because as soon as you activate Task Manager, the CPU high usage problem immediately stops. However, something does seem to be still active in the background, because after awhile the Task Manager magically suddenly shuts down, and then the CPU overloading starts up all over again. HELP !

    Repair your Windows Click the Start button and in the search bar, type: CMD. Right-click CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator. Click Yes on the User Account Control (UAC) prompt that appears. Once the blinking cursor appears, type: SFC /scannow And restart then run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command with the same process. It will repair all the windows files

  • @EasyTechGeek

    @EasyTechGeek

    This is a hardware timer source designed by Intel as replacement for the real time clock (RTC) hardware commonly found in PC boards. The HPET can produce periodic interrupts at a much higher resolution than the RTC and is often used to synchronize multimedia streams, providing smooth playback and reducing the need to use other timestamp calculations such as an X86-based CPU's RDTSC instruction.
