It’s been changed all month! 🤪

Funnily enough, my parents bought me Zeta dvds as a kid. I had no idea it was part of the DCAU, though I did love Batman Beyond and Justice League. When Batman (Terry) appeared in the “Shadows” crossover episode, I was completely blindsided and ecstatic! I think I might be the one human being who stumbled on Zeta *without* knowing it spun off from Batman Beyond.

You're not the only one, I was completely shocked when Batman showed up. I didn't see Zeta's debut in Batman Beyond until a little later and then I was confused about why he looked so different.

Oh thank Jesus. I’m literally in the midst of my DCAU binge right now. It’s been going since the beginning of this year and I’ve only just now started Batman Beyond. (Fantastic show btw I’d never seen it before) I’m attempting to watch everything in release order, to understand how things developed naturally. There’s a great Reddit post with a link to a Google sheet that has everything in order. God bless the person that made it, your work is not in vain.

@@dcauwatchtower - It just occurred to me, I’d almost forgotten, I actually did do a shout-out to The Zeta Project on my channel awhile back. I did a video segment on Zeta and Gotham Girls, representing two examples of DCAU properties which were unceremoniously snubbed by the short-lived streaming service, DC Universe.

It doesn't bother me that the DCAU chronology ended on a cliffhanger, but it infuriates me that Zeta ended on a cliffhanger. As a kid, that was my first experience with an unresolved cliffhanger and it drove me nuts.

What an awesome return of the Vanishing Point! As far as the question of the day I feel as though Epilogue gives us most of the closure we need, but it does suck we don't know what happened to Zeta. Looking forward to the finale!!

My thoughts regarding the QOTD: Batman Beyond had to end its own run on just another average, nothing big sort of episode with "Unmasked" (though "Countdown" was technically the series finale for Kids' WB! and in production order, so having a back-to-back crossover with The Zeta Project could be considered a big enough thing to end Beyond with), but thanks to JLU "Epilogue" exists to give a proper sendoff to Batman Beyond and was meant to end off the DCAU as a whole at the time they wrote that episode. So "Epilogue" is going to exist regardless, but unfortunately The Zeta Project on its own still leaves that character on an unresolved cliffhanger for his final episode (no wonder I had forgotten so much about what went on in this series) that would still be left unresolved before watching "Epilogue" unless the series were ever to be revived again. Beyond doesn't have this issue for me. "Unmasked" may not have had a very big story to be the last episode of the series to air, but even without the existence of "Epilogue" neither "Unmasked" or "Countdown" ended with anything unresolved and only leaving you with many unanswered questions, which it seems Zeta Project did.

@@dcauwatchtower Which feels like something I would do if I had had more experience with the show back when it was on. It's not as easy to express why you'd want to see a series be brought back if it's one that you've had little attachment to to begin with. It's one of those cases where you would need to take the time to revisit the series for yourself to really gauge how much you want to see it brought back as a fan aside from the obvious fact that the show's overarching story should still be resolved for fans. It was always a different case for me to say "I'd want to see Freakazoid! and Invader Zim be revived!" because of how much more time I had spent watching those shows to have enjoyed them as much as I did for as equally short-lived as they were.

Won't lie, Batman Beyond actually works better in production order (for example, "Bloodsport", first aired on October 23, 1999, actually is set before "Hidden Agenda", aired on October 16 of the same year, what with Max not knowing about Terry being Batman yet) so with that logic, "Countdown" should be deemed as the final episode of the show. However, the likes of "The Call: Parts 1 and 2" and the Return of the Joker film do work better as the series finale and a great way to transition into Justice League and Static Shock.

Glad to see that youe back! Yes, I would like to see Zeta project come back!!! Are you going to do more episodes? Would love to see more.

There is actually nothing in “Out of the Past” that says Bruce has full control of the company again-I recently rewatched it trying to find the evidence of this-so considering Bruce calls it “Wayne-Powers” in the TZP crossover, there is realistically no reason to put Return of the Joker before it.

Yeah it annoys me that they seemingly made up a reason to place RotJ in the middle of the season instead of at the end, where it works a lot better.

@@hopelessclown The only thing I can think of that might have given them the impression Bruce is in control of the company again is that Ra’s plan he says to Bruce is to use “your company and holdings” to do what he wants. But, while that may suggest an increased level of influence in the company compared to how it was in season 1, I don’t think that’s as cut and dry of evidence that he outright CONTROLS it all as it being called Wayne-Powers is that he DOESN’T. One would expect he would have to accrue more power and involvement in the company before he would be able to literally simply announce he’s taking over as he does in RotJ, anyway, and that fits with his line in that movie stating he “worked long and hard” to get his company back…

Just reached Batman Beyond's "Zeta" on my personal long binge, and I have made one ultimatum: I am now deciding that S3E12 - "Countdown" (talking production order here, not airdate order) will not be included, and the show shall end on "The Call" two-parter (S3E10-11) and the uncut film version of Return of the Joker. Seems more fitting, such an endgame for Terry McGinnis' younger Batman tenure before his "15 lost years" and JLU's "Epilogue". In short, unless a final and more sensible conclusion in a different form of media is made by Bob Goodman and co., *The Zeta Project will stay non-canon, and thus will be skipped as usual alongside Batman and Harley Quinn and maybe even JL vs. the Fatal Five.*

I know you focus on DCAU but with how well you do timelines I'd be curious as to if you guys could figure out the Zelda timeline taking the official timelines & then seeing clues from in-games, seeing if non-canon Zelda Media will canon or not

Doubt they'll do Nintendo, which is extremely disconnected to the DCAU, but I hope they'll do timeline vids for contemporaries like X-Men: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, and Disney's Gargoyles as a side gig.

How do you feel about the DCAU ending on a clifhanger? It doesn't matter, because of Epilogue.

It's bittersweetly ambiguous, not unlike Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Teen Titans. And at least they didn't suffer the unresolved cliffhanger curse of The Spectacular Spider-Man and Beware the Batman.

Woefully average kiddified filler show, legendary theme. Brings into mind the intro themes for TMNT '03's Fast Forward/Season 6 and more especially Back to the Sewer/Season 7.

If your viewers like this then more power to you, but why confuse people with arbitrary dates? Just give them an episode watch list.

Same art style, but Terry has highlights whereas most TZP characters didn’t have shading of that sort. So yeah, he stands out a little strangely.

Yeah, but at least it ensured that watching Static Shock back-to-back with Batman Beyond and Justice League doesn't feel bad. And besides, there's the Gotham Girls and (especially) Lobo webseries.
