    Always cite your bg music! Especially when it's this good. Good vid. I now understand the basic physics of a bar end and I chuckled.

    I relate so much to this guys methods and terminology, had to get new bar ends as old ones knackered when I tried to put hand wind deflection thingys on. My new bar ends are identical to the ones he took off 😂 good times lol

    Yes mate! As stupid as I made this, I did think it would actually help. I didn't bother to look up how to do it before. I thought "How hard can it be? I'll just start by undoing this bolt and I'll look it up if I get stuck." Bad move!! Then spent about 30 minutes hacking at the rubber grommet (thanks!) with various tools until it came out. The one in the video is not the fecked one I destroyed on the other side. :D

    Excellent. Nice step-by-step. And helpful. I like the part where you try Allen keys until you get the right one (its never the first one in my experience). Since my bike doesn't already have bar ends, I may be facing a bit different situation.

    They protect the bar in the event of a drop or accident and they also reduce handlebar vibration. The heavier the bar end, the less vibration. My Gixxer had noticeably less vibration after I put these on, so a more comfortable ride.

    haha. No probs mate. Glad you enjoyed. Just recently had the bar ends off on my Tiger 1050. HOW EASY?! It's just a bolt. No faff at all. Why can't all bikes be so simple ...

  • @staninjapan07
    @staninjapan076 жыл бұрын

    Funny. Thanks. Not knowing that you should not unscrew the bolt completely, that is exactly what i have done a few times. I hope that the fact that the screws went back in and 'bit' properly means that I have fortuitously avoided the problem of retrieving parts from the depths of the bars. Now... to replace the (smaller for some reason) bar-end internal parts that came with the knuckle guards I have just removed. A quick reference to an online parts catalog for part numbers... copied into a Google Images search should give me a photo of the original OEM parts set, so I can see what goes back in and what must therefor be kit parts to be removed.. if that makes ant sense. Happy Riding!

    Great tutorial. just wanted to confirm how they worked. Still having trouble getting mine off a Yamaha Fazer after using penetrating fluid and heat. Feeling like any more pressure would break the allen key or the bolt. Trying to get them off to fit heated grips.

    Great How-to video! Thanks! Those have been something of a mystery to me for some time. I don't think they were mentioned in my otherwise extensive manuals. I bought a pair with flashing colored led-lights, so I hope they won't make the handlebars vibrate more, as they are quite light. I'll probably get arrested if I ever use them...

    I would assume using loctite would be a bad idea. Because if the friction of the bolt in the nut exceeds the friction of the rubber it will just spin the bolt and nut around in circles.

    Hey bud, my bike went over on its side whilst out riding and my left hand weight end snapped off (the bold sheared off half way down). Would you know if I can get a pair of pliers on rest of the bolt if I take off the rubber hand grip? Don't want to take it off if it wont help. Cheers, Martin.

    Time to start hunting for some tools that you can push through the rubber grommet and hook it out with. In the end I used an alan key, but half destroyed it as I pulled it out. Try and find something better if you can. I also lubed up the handle bar a little so it slid out when I finally got it moving. The nut/washers will just roll out by leaning the bike over once you've got that rubber thing out. Good luck.
