Hi Ders Glez, thanks for watching. It's an OEM Nissan part. The serial numbers on the packaging were 'NISSAN GROUP - GENUINE PART - TAILGATE ASSIST KE971-4K000 - A08 30 B2'. Hope this helps.

I noticed you had a retractable bed cover and bed tie down rails. I can not find any information about installing the bed cover and being able to keep the bed tie down rails. They all say they have to be removed. If you could do a video on how you did it that it would be helpful. Thanks

Hi Philip, thanks for watching. The bed cover was supplied and fitted by the Nissan dealer when I bought it. So the rails were already in place. Thinking about it carefully my old Nissan also has the same arrangement with the rails on top of the bed cover. It seems to be the only way to do it in the UK. Where are you located?

Clever tool and great video, mate. I find myself standing on the tailgate every time I load or unload something. Will the hydraulic ram handle the weight since it now is the sole supporting point instead of the cables? Thanks.

Hi mate. Yes, the tailgate seems to flex when there is weight on it which allows the full load to to be supported by both wire supports and not just the hydraulics ram 👍

That’s a good point 🤔 it possibly would! As I got the part from the Nissan main dealer, I’m sure they would be able to confirm. The part number is in the description under the video if you need it 👍

Hi Ormald. I can't find any online links for it either. However, I got mine directly from the Nissan Dealership in Plymouth, UK around 6 months ago so they should still be doing them. 6:35 it looks like the entire weight of the tailgate is now being supported by the gas ram when the gate is open...notice the flex in the steel cables...more noticeable in the one where the ram was installed. How has it held up?

Hi Jason, thanks for watching. You're right. The ram length could have been 1/8th or so longer, it would have been better and allowed the tailgate to be fully supported. It's still doing well thanks. Seems as though it's a hard part to find even though it's an OEM bit of kit direct from Nissan.
