This was my first fishing trip of 2024 to a saltwater jetty. Armed with his trusty Daiwa Luvias 2500 FC, a light class 7-foot Palms Surfstar rod, and decades of experience, I challenged the chilly winter waters of California. My buddy on that day was a 1/8oz Nishine Lureworks Smelthead jig head paired with a Keitech Sexy Impact, a perfect combination for the subtle approach needed in winter fishing. Despite the tough conditions and limited time, I somehow managed one fish. It was, I believe, White Surfperch that I've never caught!
