Don’t worry about “oh, I really really like this, but it’s not trending” or “I only need clothes of this specific style” we are trying to find your personal style which consists of clothing you love so don’t focus on organizing stuff when making a mood board just throw whatever u think looks great and that should really help you make a closet you love :)

The way I dress often looks terrible to other people, but I feel good wearing it, and I think I look great, and I love it. I think one of the factors that affect the mentality of “dressing up” a *certain* way is like the environment around you. As someone who’s in the middle of girly and edgy I can’t really achieve a good wardrobe as I have to rely on my parents when buying clothes. They’re quite judgmental and the fact that when other people give me clothes they literally look like they’re from justice or clothes that aren’t my style at all it’s so hard to say things like “oh I’m sorry I don’t wear that” or “oh sorry but I don’t really like that.”

I’m usually a person who looks for efficiency, comfort and style, and this is my personal advise: Create two Pinterest boards, in one you put everything you like, everything. Shoes, clothes, jewels, makeup styles. On the other board you’ll only add pattern items. An example: you noticed you had 10-20 pins with the same Dr. Martens Jadon Vintage. That means that subconsciously or not you’re attracted to that item, and is something you can re-use multiple times. In the beginning buy *core* pieces. Like a plain color shirt that you can overlay with multiple items, or a jacket that will look good independently of what you wear on the bottom, from then on slowly buy more items that fit your style. Try experimenting with DIY, and please avoid buying stuff you won’t need anymore after it’s done being a trend!

Just something to remember, if someone does come up to you to talk smack about your outfit don't feel bad about it. Feel bad for them that their day, or maybe even their life is so sad that they felt the need to take time and effort out of their day to try and make you feel bad for *gAsP!* trying to dress the way you like.

i’d also say try to remember that they’re just a person. you’re just a person. their opinion isn’t more important than yours. they’re not the arbiter of what is and isn’t cool and at the end of the day their opinion has no effect on your life

I've always loved like- homemade looking jewellery and I've started making bracelets out of can tabs and stuff and I already feel a lot happier. I won't be leaving the house until like- November because lockdown but we're in Spring, going into Summer at the end of November, and I'll be able to show off my cool homemade bracelets without them being hidden and stuff. Plus, whenever I think about it, I wonder what others think when they see some random long hair blonde bitch with platform boots, a bunch of silver jewelry, laces tied in rainbow pentagrams lol and in their school uniform jus walking across the quad to their other very cool looking friends. Idk it makes me feel cool.

Plus, I wear another pair of doc martins that have heart buckles, a pink hear indented into the back of he shoe and then the top of the flap thing behind the zipper. They're undeniably cooler than the previous ones and I feel cool. I like to think me and the few other alternative year 10's have allowed younger students to feel like they're allowed to express themselves while still wearing school uniform, thankfully our uniform rules are very slick and we can accessorise to our hearts content along with whatever hair/makeup we want A lot of new students are scared to express themselves going into highschool and I think seeing other students expressing themselves how they want is great, I've already seen a slow influx of kids going outside the base uniform last year and this year. now i know fast fashion is to be avoided where possible, but SHEIN has been a game changer for me as a midsize person whose proportions don’t fit into a lot of mainstream fast fashion. SHEIN has exact cm/inch measurements in every article of clothing which can help you find pieces that are more likely to fit you before buying, and seeing pictures of people with a similar body type in the reviews can help you match expectations. the quality isn’t always stellar and it may not be ideal for lifelong staple pieces, but it’s good for trying out styles that are hard to otherwise find in stores. My one tip would be to avoid overconsumption - try one article of clothing from whatever style you want to try, then you can expand when you know you like it. good luck :))

you can also get some incredible inspirations from film! the styling of your favorite character tells a lot about you in my opinion. also, in film, a character could wear simple everyday outfits and they still speak for their personality... same goes for music of any subculture bc fashion is often related to it! have fun and be creative ! don't put pressure on yourself

clothes really helped me. a lot. I have severe social anxiety, and dressing fancy actually helped me, especially when I am given compliments !! even a guy at my school I barely talk to agreed that my outfits are pretty 🥹🫶 of course I am not the only person in the world with SAD (social anxiety disorder) so it may be different, but if you're comfortable, I definitely recommend :]

For my fellow babes in school, please remember NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU ARE WEARING!! Everyone is just in school, because they have to be. No one notices what anyone is wearing, other than freshman’s. Only freshman’s really think this is middle school, where they think they are adults and are majority “pick me girls.” Teachers also don’t care, some don’t ever care if it breaks dress code. The teachers are just happy you even rolled out of bed at 6-7 a.m. and got to school: congrats if you dressed cute this early.

100% agree i remember when i struggled with self love so i thought if i will wear weird attentional clothes i would bring some eyes on me and ppl will notice that I exist but the result was completely the opposite no one did i thought the problem was with my clothes and i spent my whole money on clothes and still no body cares, since that time i realized that no one cares about your clothing and even me don't care about ppl clothes

Some of my own tips thatve helped me: - Make Friends who Are interested in similar styles as you or are confident. Being around confident people has made me so much more confident myself! - Make sure that before you buy a piece you know what you’ll wear it with, and stick to a few diff main colors in your wardrobe such as basic colors and 2 or 3 bold colors - Find designers/magazines/people you can rely on for inspo! - Try new things!!!!! Hope this helps :)))

this advice is literally so spot-on. I started making smarter decisions when buying clothes, making mood boards, and lists of essentials that I needed, and started building up my wardrobe over time. it took like half a year, but I'm way happier with my current style, than my old one. If you're really worried about what people are gonna say/think, the best advice I can give is to just say "f_ck everyone, and their opinions, I'm h0t, and I look good no matter what I wear." and remember, you can pull off any style, all you need is confidence.
