    So glad i found this ! Just got into the whole catapult game and thought i was not getting enough power ( shots dropping off ) worked it out using this method and chopped a good few cm off the bands . Made a huge difference thankyou so much

    Mate, you're a star! Being new to this (after a hiatus of 40 odd years!) I got myself an OTT slingshot and just clamped in the elastic. My draw length is the same as your, and I discovered the bands were way too long! Now adjusted it is way more powerful........cheers!

    If you're not hunting or pest control, you normally wouldn't reach 0.8mm band thickness unless you're prioritizing band lifespan cause that's the advantage as it gets thicker. Matching band thickness and ammo-weight cause if the ammo is too heavy, most of the contraction speed is eaten up by gravity of that ammo, if the ammo is too light, well it just doesn't go as fast, I forgot the reason, try those regular plastic BB gun bullets, I think 4~5mm, they still fly fast but not as fast, that's what I mean. You can try shooting sardine cans if you don't have a speedometer/chronometer

    Im just going to say,without any extra archery references.Once you find your anchor point.Lets just say -against your cheek,right below your dominant eye. Every time you draw to fire.Return to that exact spot every draw.Keep focusing on the exact anchor point until it becomes automatic. Your accuracy will improve and becomes consistent @ a specific distance.

    I have Question Why divided by 5.5 or 6 ? :)

  • @MangaGamified
    @MangaGamified2 жыл бұрын

    not all bands can stretch to 6x. get a scrap band, mark two points and they're 1cm far apart, and stretch it to like 99% of it's limit, in my case it was 5cm stretched, so divide your draw length to like 4.9cm

  • @ravendon
    @ravendon3 жыл бұрын

    In inches use 4-5x and add half inch for tie off. 20in draw length divide by 5 =4, then add half an inch. Band length would be 4.5 inches.

    When we were kids we would use our body parts to determine our size and fit to a whole plethora of of different things. From pant size where u would use ur elbow to ur rist all the way to building ur own personal sling shot where u would use ur finger tips to ur wrist, and most of the time it will be the best fit to ur needs. Now building it also plays a big part u will notice that u have 2 to 4 cm of extra play that is the extra that u use to tie-up ur rubber to ur forks. 99 percent of the time it will be a perfect fit unless ur using real heavy rubber bands. As kids we used bicycle tire rubber and then moved up to the rubber of a motorized bike it was called a Thomas that's was the best rubber as a kid we could find and let me tell u the sling shots that were made with it as kids we were all envious over. They were incredibly accurate, durable, and low maintenance. Probably because the rubber from the factory was made to last with no maintenance.

  • @eusuntaici

    It probably depends on how strong you are. My estimate after looking at his bands is 3 cm wide. If it's too hard to draw the slingshot, you can always reduce by a few millimeters, I imagine. Hope this helps.

    they should be matched to the weight of the ammo you shoot, the heavier the ammo the thicker the bands. if they are too thin you sacrifice power but if they are too thick there will be too much energy left in the bands at the end of the shot causing faster band wear and hand slaps

    I'm finding 8.9 times out of ten my 'lastic gives up the ghost in front of the pouch holes. It's a bit 'cheap' but I'm reusing the cut downs for my 'standard' anchor lengths. Not with me? Get a PFS....justification for buying one.....sneaky, right....i...! Better now? Still no? You set up for the half or full butterfly for your PFS, then you still have length in hand for your 'usual anchor' length cuts. If you get busted for buying a PFS tell her it's Economical Utilisation....or... drink beer until she cheers up? Or....get another one.
