    Hi! I've been using your Whisper Booster Wicks for my 3'' Diameter vessel with a coconut wax blend. I was recommended the .02 wicks and have tested using the 1/2'', 5/8'', and 3/4'' whisper wicks in .02. All have good scent throw, though the 1/2'' was (obviously) too small. The only issue (I think) I have is that both the 5/8'' & 3/4'' start burning irregularly/too hot/high at the 1 - 2 hour mark. Which I assume is way too soon - for a trim - as it's recommended to burn your candle for at least 3 - 4 hours to achieve a proper melt pool. There isn't even any mushrooming or sooting (falling into the wax or wall build-up), the flame just gets large seemingly too soon and I'm having to trim it frequently. I already tried sizing down to the single ply, but there was no scent throw. Only the boosters provide scent throw it seems... also the fragrance load is at 8%. What would you guys recommend?

  • @makesyofficial

    @makesyofficial

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi there! Thanks so much for reaching out and so happy to help you. This is a little challenging as the whisper wick boosters unfortunately don't come in any smaller thickness. Based on what's happening, you need to reduce the overall amount of wick material. So our recommendation would be to try a single ply .02 x 5/8 and a .02 x 3/4 and compare their burns while increasing your FO load to 10%. Make sure you are mixing for at least 2 minutes and not mixing your fragrance in above its flash point. Let us know how that works out!

    Hello, I'm having a little trouble with the flame height, ultimately leading to the wax pooling too quickly. I'm using your Aura vessel, Luxe Satin Soy Wax blend, and one of your fragrance oils as well. Wick test recommended using CRACKLING BOOSTER WICK .03 - .75". I'm burn testing crackling booster .03/.625" and the flame seems to be sitting around 1-1.5" with some instances where the flame will rise slightly higher (about 2") for a moment before going back down to 1-1.5". Any tips on what I should do since the recommended wick size was even larger than the one I'm currently testing?

  • @makesyofficial

    @makesyofficial

    2 жыл бұрын

    I might recommend reducing your fragrance load. If you're using a fragrance with citrus it will often cause a hotter burn, resulting in a high flame. If that's not the case, then you may need to trim your wick a bit more. For optimal burn performance, make sure it's at .2" prior to each burn.

I did let it burn to 3.5hrs to see if it would catch up but the scent was burned off and the wax discoloured. I’ve wicked up to my 03, 0.75 booster wicks. I’m pretty sure they are too big because i’m getting a full melt pool within an hour. I did let it burn to 2h and the melt pool was not deeper than 0.5”. I’m doing a second burn test with that size wick currently. 2 out of 3 is performing well, the 3rd candle flame is tiny.

  • @makesyofficial

    @makesyofficial

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello! There are many reasons a wick will not stay lit. The most common reasons a wick may self-extinguish include: The wick is not wide enough for the diameter of the candle causing tunneling - Solution: Increase the width of the wick. The wick is not thick enough. When a wick is not thick enough there will not be sufficient capillary action to sustain a proper burn - Solution: Increase the wick thickness, layer the wicks with a Booster Wick, or try an already adhered wick. A wick can clog when too many additives for that size of wick are present. This can cause a natural clogging of the capillary flow needed to sustain a proper burn - Solution: Use a thicker or adhered wick. The wick is too far above the surface of the wax when the candle is initially lit - Solution: Make sure the wick is trimmed to be no longer than 1/4” - 3/16” / 6.4mm - 4.8mm above the wax. This is counterintuitive, as we think a longer wick will make a larger flame, but it will not. The longer the wick, the harder it is for the wax to flow up to the top.

    Hi Elliott! If it doesn't create a mostly full melt by the 3 hour mark it will tunnel on your second burn so it's important to wick up in width. The 4 hour mark is the mark of the longest amount of time your candle should burn at any given time, thus should have a complete full melt by 4 hours.

    If my vessel diameter is 3.77”, is it ok to double wick with the crackling booster .03 .625 x 5?

    This sounds like it will be too large. :) If you want to double wick, I would suggest the Crackling Booster .03 in .375"! Assuming it's the right wick type for your wax.

    Hi, I can’t seem to find the right size wick. I’m using Wooden Wick Co.’s Virgin Coconut Soy + Metal Tin in Copper + 10% Blood Orange + Lime Agave FO. I’ve tested The Crackling Booster .03 x .625, Crackling Booster .02 x 625, Crackling Booster .03 x .5, Crackling Booster .02 x .5. The Crackling Booster .03 x .625 was the only one that passes the 1st burn test. The flame height and melt pool were perfect but the 2nd burn test the flame was getting towards 1 inch. Not sure why it keeps doing that. Any idea why the flame would be high? I am definitely trimming to recommended height.

    If your candle is smoking or sooting it's likely due to the wick being too big

    Are double wicks better with soy wax candles? I'm not able to light up my candle. Could be the quality of my wicks? I would say they are from China but not sure.

    It is most certainly the quality or sizing of the wicks causing it. For soy wax, you need to use the Crackling Booster .04. Check it out on woodenwick.com.
