How to find Group, Period and Block of an element?
This lecture is about how to find group, period, block and subgroup of any element. I will teach you the super easy trick through which you can find the group, period and subgroup of s-block elements, p-block elements and d-block elements.
For example, consider Sodium and its atomic number is 11. Firstly, we will configure the electrons of sodium. The last electron of sodium is in the s orbital. So, sodium is s-block element. The highest principal quantum number of sodium is 3. So, sodium is present in the third period. There are only one electron in the last s-orbital of sodium. So, sodium is in the first group. The last orbital of sodium is "s". So, its subgroup is 1A.
Using this trick, we can calculate the group number, period numbers, subgroup number and block number of any element in the periodic table.

@@tanyamishra35381s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d5. Here ends with d , so it's a dblock element. Highest energy level is 4. So period is 4. Then (5+2=7 ) so group is VII now the subgroup is B because d the last sublebel. So the group is VIIB

at 4:12 , you're supposed to add 10 to find the group of an element in block P. and at 6:05 , you're supposed to do the following for elements in block D: - We have to look at the highest S for the period. - Block is found by checking the last sublevel. - For the group, add the electrons of the last S + last D

The system he uses for naming the groups is kinda diffrent, he is using the roman numbers Maybe thats the reason?

He is teaching in Roman numerals method In that method they are divided into group A and group B So he taught VA means 5th group of A which means 15th group in Arabic numerals So he taught correctly

Electronic configuration of 29th element copper is (Ar) 4s1 3d10 So it's period is 4th It is a d group element. And it's group no. will become 1(B)

copper is an exception to the aufbau principle , the electron configuration is not 4s(2) 3d(9) it is 4s(1) 3d(10) chromium is also an exception.

Since for the electron configiration of the d-bock periods you have to subtract -1, so why are those d-block periods not just depicted one row abowe in the periodic table of elements (then it would be easier to directly read instead of conducting this subtraction)?
