Watching this makes me wanna go hit the creeks here in the mountains of NC. We have plenty of gem stones, one of the few locations of hiddenite in the world, and supposedly the Appalachian mountains are the oldest mountains in the US. Plus we have a river here near me that has a ton of bedrock showing.

if ONLY i could use a suction hand dredge in Vermont, but the a-holes that make the "regulations" have essentially banned their use, in the most irrational way probably possible. as such, the only way to go about freely finding gold in this state is hand panning, with scoops and shovels. even regular Stream sluices are panned unless permitted with a $25 seasonal permit.... and its $50 for a non resident, which is ridiculous... at least however, the one time i panned a spot in a known gold bearing area (Plymouth VT on Buffalo Creek) we found a really nice picker/flake/ tiny tiny nugget haha. but, i could pluck it form the pan and the sound it made in the drop was epic. just shoveled out and panned out a bedrock pothole in a canyon upstream haha. but, a suction hand dredge woudl have been So much better, sigh.

Hey man! Ya know Kyle. That little toy dog you found was probably a relic from the civil war time? Either way? Cool find. Hey man, I was wondering if you ever did any metal detecting with your prospecting? Me being in Colorado. It sure helped me on finding the larger gold or small pockets anyway. I'm surprised you don't find older lead, like three ringers or balls? And gems. I heard of a way to catch gem while running a sluice. they called it a slick pan or a grease pan or something like that? Do you know what I mean? Heard on Prospector Jess. Another Ytube channel. Check it out. Later man.

Might be some gold in that ironstone with pyrite. It's associated with silver and copper in other parts of Missouri like the Ozarks. Some pyrite in coal in West Virginia can have 40% by weight gold according to the guy who did those Gold Fever episodes. Supposed to be some platinum group metals in some of that chalcopyrite containing ironstone according to a newspaper article from the 1800's. I would also check and mineralized quartz, not all that gold may be from glaciers.
