This was great! I loved the metal with the vacuum scene. I've been working on a custom exhaust for my 1936 Chevy truck with a 5.3 LS. Headers have been a nightmare and my old timer buddy said dump tranny oil down the carb and find the smoke. After about a gallon, my neighbors are annoyed and I have a guilty conscience. I thought about this but was thinking it wouldn't build pressure due to valves being open. I'm sure EFI throttle bodies seal better than carbs. If that's a problem I'll seal off the carb. Easy enough. Going to do this to find a vacuum leak too. Thanks man

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Just the day before yesterday my wife said your 04 crv is so quiet I didn’t even know it was running. Then yesterday I started it up and it sounded like the muffler feel off. But the noise is not coming from the muffler, it sounds more like it is coming from the catalytic converter. Somewhere around the cat. Could it be the change in temperature “ like the weather “that caused a crack or what? It went from summer weather to almost freezing in the morning. Could that be what caused the exhaust leak? Thanks for your help, James

That's pretty nice method. I've also seen people use a Halloween smoke machine in the end of the exhaust or even finding EVAP leaks too.

Can you use a blower too? I have a ryobi electric blower but probably has the same amount of power to a shop vac. It’s not bad to blow a lot of air when doing this right?

Plug off the other pipe if you have duals! I'm about to try this. My diy welding job came terrible.

I was told my car has an exhaust leak as well. But it’s getting to where I can smell exhaust in my vents when the A/C or heat is on and it’s making me sleepy when sit at a light for a while. I’ve noticed this from when I was younger and we used to have kerosene heaters and when the kerosene runs out the smell puts me in a real deep sleep. But I gotta get to work and it’s a hard thing to save up for a mechanic to replace. I really hope I can get it done soon for the sake of me and others around me.

Dude your brain is poisoning from CO. You can't smell it but carbon monoxide comes along with the exhaust gasses you can smell. Learn about how not to die from CO poisoning.

I don’t even give a shit about the exhaust leak, now that I’ve witnessed the vacuum struggle that you have to go through 😂😂😂 Good video thanks!
