Are use an electronic leak detector myself. A different brand but works the same way and I feel it’s a heck of a lot better than shooting soapy water over everything.

Glad your detector works well for you. Once you get into the Amprobe digital version it changes the game in terms of selectivity and filtering out RF which is rampant in a Newell. And yes, there aren’t many places I’d spray with soapy water.

People on the HDT forum like the whisper results and it is less money. Why did you go with the Amprobe model?

I tried the cheaper Amazon one. Piece of junk!!! When my Newell tech had an older AMPROBE which kicked tail all over the cheap one, I sent it back and got the new 405. It’s all about sensitivity and selectivity. Can’t get those qualities on the cheap. AMPROBE is the standard in the HVAC world for a reason. Hope this helps. You won’t regret the decision if you go with the AMPROBE.

Incidentally, this last portion of this test was conducted with the engine running…the AMPROBE is that good!

@@RVSquaredSteve Just had to ask because the other guys always talk about their whispers. Sounds like you get what you pay for. I have a 2002 Beaver that holds air really good except the tag sometimes goes on the fritz until I got 100 miles then it holds air. Maybe this will track down the failure point.

@@danjohnson7767 Yup...the INFICON was what I returned. This is one of those tools that you'll realize the difference once you spend the money for a true precision piece of equipment.
