Never been this early for one of Julia’s vids before! So excited!
Is there something special in the water in Australia? It seems that all the people there (yourself included Julia) are beautiful.
The art of backlighting is key! I’m definitely applying that at my next shoot! Thank you, Julia!

Hi Julia, awesome as always! My favorite shots are where the stairs were used with standing poses. I like the tip about finding complimentary colors at the location to use in the background. I also like your communication skills with the models. Oh and the direction with moving the legs to get a motion look. BTW.... Shanice is very pretty, I'd like to see her with you more!

And even though I own only a canon 200d with the sigma art 18-35 (for my music videos), I am thinking because of you to buy next year a portrait lense. Do you still prefer the canon 1.2? Or which one is at the moment your favourit? And by the way: I am not get tired to mention, that you have a beautiful voice ... and smile 😊

I love all of them! I have such a hard time knowing where to do a photo shoot. I think that’s one of the hardest things I struggle with sadly. I want to do things locally but I always feel pressure to find an amazing spot! Haha it’s crazy I can’t think of just going somewhere around town that is beautiful like the spots you find

when there's auto isn't working the way you thought it would work, then you can pop into manual I suppose
@juliatrotti
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you and yep I always shoot in auto focus, I like shooting at wider apertures which can be hard to see focus through the viewfinder, it’s also just more accurate and time efficient 😊
Amazing julia 👍
Really good tutorial as these days sometimes it's not good idea to visit beaches and parks (to avoid crowd) for portrait work. Thanks.

Video awesome as always :) You are the best youtuber ever, learning so much from you! I have just bought canon 35 mm 1.4 thanks to your recommendation, I love it :) Julia can you please tell me- what kind of filters do you use for your portrait/wedding photography ? Only UV filters or do you use also use softening filters / polarizing filters ? Thank you for everything!
@juliatrotti
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much and that makes me so happy to hear, the 35 is my absolute favourite 🙌 I only ever use UV filters and it’s just to protect the lens and to be able to clean it easily as I typically do a lot of photo shoots at the beach where the ocean mist makes the lens cloudy haha so it’s a lot easier to wipe down the filter rather than the actual lens.

@@juliatrotti thank you for answering :) have a great week :) looking forward to your new videos :)
Julia, after that 35L mark I vs II video, do you still think the mark I bokeh is better than mark II in portrait shoots?
Creativity every time
Hello. What budget camera do you recommend for portrait photography? I would like to pursue my passion but can't really afford high-end cameras.
I’ve missed the canon :’) do you now shoot on the Sony exclusively or does it just depend?
@juliatrotti
4 жыл бұрын
I’m using the A7III for my professional work but on KZread I like mixing it up, so I will always bring back Canon! Hoping to add Nikon and Fuji to the mix soon too 😄
Great insights Julia! Could I ask how do you go about if your model has like, vibrant coloured hair? Just say, red hair. How do you balance or complement with the colour?
@juliatrotti
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would probably treat bright coloured hair like an outfit in the sense that I would try to match the colours to the background. For example if I am taking portraits of someone with black or very dark hair I try to avoid placing them against a darker background as you can lose the detail in the hair and have it just blend in - I hope that helps!
YAY! Canons back :D

Hey Julia, love your channel, as a beginner what lenses would you recommend? I want to get the canon Eos rp and was thinking of a 35mm and an 85mm but I don’t know whether I should get a 24-105mm lens and cover a range of lengths?
@grabtharandhishammer8251
4 жыл бұрын
the downside to the 24-105 is that its only F4. The other canon primes will give you f1.4 or lower. I've got the 24-105 f4 and the 70-200 2.8, but my go to lens is the 50 1.2. I even use the 70-200 more as i can get to 2.8. I just find that f4 doesn't quite blur the background enough.
@juliatrotti

It’s a hard question to answer in a comment without knowing your work or what you’re after - I have lots of lens comparisons and behind the scenes where I shoot on different lenses in case you haven’t seen them yet. I find that seeing a particular lens in action and seeing the types of shots it gets it super helpful in being able to decide what’s right for you 😊
@4321jimjam1
4 жыл бұрын
Julia Trotti thanks for you response, I think I’m am swaying more towards the prime lenses as they are 1.4 and 1.8 and it’s gives me still a good range of focal length, and I think it will make me think more of my photos instead of just zooming in and out for the sake of it! But yeah love your videos just hard to think of a lens as there are so many to chose from :)
First i love your work. Are you using flash? And are you bracketing ? If so is it one under one over? Or 2 under 2 over?
@juliatrotti
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don’t ever use flash outside, so this is all just natural light. I usually underexpose by a stop or 2 depending on the lighting of the day as I usually tend to go for a darker look with my photos 😊

@@juliatrotti You are great artist.
Julia which camera do you prefer using on a shoot? canon or sony
@juliatrotti
4 жыл бұрын
I’m currently using Sony for my professional work but I like shooting on any camera to be honest, so there will always be a bit of everything on my channel 😊
Curious question, do you ever feel the need to work faster if you're using someone's fence or wall?
@juliatrotti
4 жыл бұрын
Fences or walls are usually fine since in Sydney they are right next to the public footpath. If I want to take photos in someone’s front yard though for example, I will always knock to ask for permission and I try to be quick, quiet and respectful of their property 😊
