In this flood of photos we have now, I really appreciate your work and contributions to photography 🙏❤️
Easy to use but very effective techniques. Simplicity is the key. You know how to use that very well. Your works are brilliant. I've learnt a lot since I started watching your tutorials. Thank You 👍
I love my 85, it's my favorite of all my lens, & this video is just what I needed, I feel that I shoot too close sometimes & forget that this lens will do a beautiful shot capturing the full body frames & the background. I need to grab a model & go out & practice. I'll probably watch this again & again .... loved it & subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the tips.
This video and the previous 35mm version are just pure gold. I think these are the best framing tutorials I’ve seen. Thanks!

This is so good! Would love to see a series like this! A 35mm composition tips next? 🤔😄
I love this! It’s just what i’m looking for. Thanks, Julia!
Girl you have such an amazing channel and beautiful spirit. I have learned so much in such a short time because of your delivery, tone, energy, patience. I am a new subbie here and love this channel hands down my favorite 🥰
So helpful!! Thanks for sharing Julia! I have the 85mm per your recommendation and am enjoying learning more about how to use it to its fullest potential!
I love my 85mm for portraits. You get close and personal with the subjects. Great video tips!
You're pictures are so dreamy. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us 🥰. These are really good tips.
I always have such a tough time shooting portraits with my 85. I was just speaking with a friend about this very subject just the other day. Thank you for creating and uploading this video. It was super helpful. Now I wanna grab my 85 and go practice.

Yeah I was kinda the same, the 85 was my favourite lens for a while when I first got it then I lost interest in using it for a couple of years. Now I'm in love with it again and can't live without it hahah
Thank you for your advices 😊❤️ I really appreciate what you are doing. Supporting beginners of their passion 😊❤️
Yes yes yes! I love this video! Just started using foreground blur with trees plants and branches! Now I need an 85mm!
yes i love these kind of videos. so many good tips. im planing on renting this lens to see if i should save up for one.
Indeed the 85mm lens is perfect for portraits. Just enough closeness, intimacy with the subject, nice perspective and bokeh........ beautiful shots.
Julia just shows what an amazing photographer is
A composition tip I will definitely try to not be afraid to test out is the first tip to crop a portrait shot from the shoulders/hairline and leaving a bit of negative space at the top. My primary lens is a 24-70mm f/2.8 so I will use the 70 mm to get that background to foreground separation and bokeh 😍
Last one is the favorite one with the landscape fullbody photos♥️
I love the way you integrate nature to the portray. I some times hesitate to get my subjects surrounded by branches because it will be distracted, but the way you did the depth of field degradation of the 85 mm make me see other angle of the concept, thanks
Thanks so much for another outstanding video on composition tips - it is so helpful !! So much inspiration across the video - I particularly like your simple but effective suggestion of leaving some space above the models head when shooting in portrait orientation but then cutting off some of the hair when shooting in landscape orientation; also leaving in the model's shoulders. I have watched the video a couple of times and keep picking up new ideas each time !! Many thanks again.

Hi Julia ! 🤩 Thank you for one your best best videos because most of us shoot these shots at parties, weddings, birthdays, travel etc. I love my 85mm and you show us why. So good 👍🙏

Favorite tip: ask your subject to stand in the leaves so that it is more surrounded by the background. Thank you, great tips!
One of your better videos on portrait photography with that lens. Great tips and examples. I wish you would leave the final photo up longer while you discuss why you did what you did, I have to keep replaying sections over so I can get a better understanding. I really liked this video. Thank you.
Sharing your thought process was super helpful! Thank you for the amazing videos.
Love you and your videos. So much learning and inspiration. Thanks for that 👏🏼
Great video! Love the 85gm. It's one of my favorite lenses I own. Wish Sony would do an update to it with the newer focusing technology they put in the new primes they're releasing.
Thanks, that was so helpful! I especially love the ones from 7:00 on with all the leaves around her face! Amazing model, als always :)
This is so helpful, have had an 85mm for quite a while now and I don't think getting the framing right with it had really clicked yet
Such a good tip video. I also love shooting with this focal length so it was perfect.
This was so relaxing you are definitely a vibe ❤️
Julia: Comment down which one your favorite. Me: All, all of it is my favorite! 💖
The hero shot was my favorite! Thank you so much! :)
I been watching this video over and over. its so good. thank you for your info...
The 35 and 85 are my go to lenses as well then the 70-200. I got rid of my nifty 50 as I hardly use it and in a pinch if I want that focal length while not using my 24-70 then I can just go into DX mode on my full frame with my 35 and basically get the same shot. Beautiful images btw
Super useful tutorial. My full body landscape shots always feel a bit empty but I definitely got some new ideas.
your content is so amazing. i cannot get enough
Love these types of videos! Thank you 😊
Hey Julia ... Super awesome tips, loved it to the max ... the 85 is my favourite along side the 24 (cos i dont have a 35 yet ) I am definitely using a few of these on Saturday fro my next shoot.
Thanks Julia for this tutorial. The fact that you’re getting these stunning images using natural light is in itself epic. Please which transmitter are you using to share your view monitor as you shoot?

Wow Julia. Thank you so much for this amazing Inspiration!!
Nicely done and well-illustrated. Thanks.
Such a great video!!!
Love it 🤩🤩
Love the tips! Thx for the great video!
Great tidbits!! Awesome job!
I love my 85! Great video again, they literally do not come out quick enough for me 😂💛
I struggle with my 85, and therefore almost never use it unless I need more reach during a wedding ceremony. I really should utilize it more often, so thank you for these tips. It's out of my comfort zone (I usually shoot with my 24 most of the time) but I'm going to give it a shot this weekend where I'm second shooting. I love your tips on the landscape shots since those can fall to the wayside as well when I do portraits. I always just found it easier to use my 24 and move my feet towards and away from my subjects, but an 85 gives that cool look I think I'm missing. Luckily there's a lot of space where I'll be so it'll be easier to achieve. This video came at the perfect time. Thanks, Julia! Also, Mathilda was fantastic. You pick the best models for these videos!

Brilliant tips, thanks for making this video!
I love the tip about nestling subject i. Trees to get a variety of bokeh blur and sharp background the subject. Thats the tip i will definitely uses!
JULIA I LOVEEE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU
i love the photos between the tree branches
I love when you make videos like this! This helps me think of a different perspective so that my photos don't look the same on my feed 🤙🏽

Nicely done, as usual. 🥂
Great video... I'll be putting some of of those tips into practice.
I love the video's you make, explaining how to shoot a portrait. Do you ever do a shoot in an industrial environment instead of in park? I would like to see that some time.

Like Your tips with different lenses. I’ve tried to use some of them as inspiration! Subscribed ;)
Just got the 85mm 1.8 lens and used it for my in laws high school graduation. From using the start kit 28-70mm to this lens, it makes a huge difference! I’m still learning about what to use different lenses for what. Your videos are so helpful!

@@alexn.andradeIf you're mostly doing photos I'd get a 1.4, If you can afford the GM that's one of the best 35mm ever made (for any camera). Its not great for video though, so if you're planning on doing that, get the Sony 1.8. If you can't afford the GM but are still just doing photo, get the Sigma.
Love you and love your work so much ❤️

Helpful tips. Thanks.
Thank you very much! Very useful knowledge.
I was JUST thinking about gettin Canva. Its a sign.
Great video!! I just realized looking at your video that I have not done nearly enough headshots even though I shoot with the 85mm most of the time. I think with all of my shoots this coming June, I will be taking a lot more headshots 😅. Also love the call to attention with the text to indicate your thoughts on the negative space, including the shoulders etc. Last thing, I feel the landscape full body portraits are so under utilized! Even though it is my preferred framing since I love the storytelling aspect of it, because of Instagram, I shoot way more portraits than landscape. I have consciously focus on them. Thank you again for giving me a few ideas for the upcoming shoots!

Thank you so much! Yess the 85 is SO good for headshots, my personal favourites are always the ones I shoot in horizontal orientation :D And I also love the landscape full body shots, the only downside is that you need a pretty large location so you can get far enough back! But it's worth it when everything aligns to get a shot like that.
the natural light was so beautiful :") i will do some photo session next month, hopefully it wont be cloudy
Your model is beaautiful
Love this video so helpful! Would you consider doing a portrait shoot using the Sony a9 for a video please? It's a camera that I'm looking at getting next for portrait and motorsport photography!
Everything looks good
You could even use a Brenizer for those super wide full body shots on a tele. Love the depth you can get with foreground elements.
@juliatrotti
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would look so beautiful!
Beautiful work. I was surprised when you said you liked to crop off the top of the subject's head in landscape. I'm curious what others think. It would be hard for me, but I am not very contemporary. You and the model seemed to have a great rapport.
This is useful thanks i just bought a nikon 85mm 1.8 lens the other week not had a full chance to try it yet.
