This is a perfect example of why this process is so hard. You went in and said you were trying to grow it longer...and then he proceeded to "hedge-trim" you (not saying the end result does not look good). I am all for cleaning up a little transparency, but, your beard will never be long all over if you keep getting the sides cut like that. A cut like that will only look that good if you regularly get it shaped up. Definitely not the way to grow a long/longer beard...imo.

He said he has quick growth so if he takes off 1/2 in of split ends but has 1in of growth monthly he is still growing 1/2 in of New growth...it may take longer to grow though. It's tough... those split ends get wispy and actually make your beard look thinner.
