I just bought that rod this season and it's the best I've ever owned, landed my pb northern this year (22lbs), and so many whitefish on simcoe! Awesome vid as usual man, keep up with the underwater camera stuff. Even for jigging in the summer on the calm flat days

Hey Jay, they also make an adapter for a flashlight for it. Never used it or seen it used, but may be worth looking into. Marcum also makes a really nice underwater camera. Buddy of mine has the LX9 and it came with a camera with it already. Beautiful unit and camera has a built in light. Come to sudbury area! Multi species!

Nice video Jay. My buddy has that camera with the tripod. That tripod is the greatest thing invented since the underwater camera haha. Best is a little key fab to turn it back and forth.

Cut a 10" / 250mm circle out of plywood, 12mm / 1/2" channel to the middle. Stagger hook screws next to the channel. Weave camera cable on hook screws while at desired depth like a boat cleat. Move whole unit to move camera. Also helps to insulate holes outside a shack.

Clip that camera cable to a dead-stick trap rig, then you can turn the rig to point the camera without any other equipment.

Question? Why not just record with a Marcum LX-9? Video quality is great. It records right into the micro SD in the unit. (perk of not having to have all the other recording devives, cables, and battery packs) And you can even set a 'Pre-Record' timeframe of 1-25 minutes (whatever you set) so that you only have to push the record button AFTER something cool happens on camera, which saves the previous 5-10 minutes. And you can view the videos on the device while you're out there, to make sure they are working and saving properly. And it can be used as a backup depthfinder in case something happens to your main unit. ???????????

Jay: For someone looking to get into KZread fishing video's would you recommend a DSLR or a cam-corder? Are cam-corder's even a thing anymore? Yeah, I know Go Pro's are the first camera used. But they're limited somewhat, not that I know much about go pro's or even cameras. What are your thoughts?

Camcorders can be a good cheap option with one's shooting 1080p 60fps for less than $100, but dslrs are more versatile and better. The only thing to think about is if you film hunting you need a camcorder because there is a mirror click in a dslr that will scare away animals.

Off the subject comment Jay, but I was just at our local Walmart and they have all their ice fishing stuff on clearance. Those big wooden HT Tip-ups that Darcy(???) and you were using for big pike were like $7 US and Thermal(round) were $9 US. Just thought I would mention about it because for some reason that video and those tip-ups came to my mind.

Thanks man! Two reasons I didn’t want to fish in 52 feet...not as much light penetration for filming, and I wasn’t planning on keeping any fish...most walleyes from that depth would die from barotrauma.
