Your video was very helpful. I got my small size heavy bag - (the size one you put inside the big one ) , repaired on the strapping so obviously I needed to remove all the filler. I haven’t been able to get it all in yet, and so looking at the video has been helpful as to a better technique.👍

Sand. I had a 450lb heavy bag filled with nothing but sand. I loved that thing. Gonna do it again when I get settled.

I filled a long Thai bag mate with old cloth and clothes but stuffed it in 3 sections. When I put one in I would put 25kg plates on top and leave for a night or 2 before doing the next. It’s was solid after that 👌🏼

@@Tony_Jeffries I used a forklift to compress it down filling it in layers of 6 inches and it gave it a nice even and solid compaction. Great content and channel.

The old clothing Heavy Bag. A true martial arts training classic.

Something about Gel bags nowadays that surpasses the filler bags. Alot more sturdy, alot more unforgiving if you angle wrong but alot more satisfying when you connect. But each to their own.

A filled heavy bag or just Heavy bag fill can get expensive when it comes to shipping. Try and search your local for sale adds, there are always used heavy bags for $20 or even free a lot of the time. You can sacrifice them for the fill and keep them out of the landfill

In the backyard gym being a barn, we had old-school big bags, which were very thick leather punching it for months. They always hurt the hands until i finally got used to it over time. Turns out someone filled it with broken concrete and explained why it were chained to the main beam.

If you're looking for some fillings for a punchbag, go to a busy upholstery firm as they are usually glad to get rid of offcuts of leather or soft fabrics.

It's such a graft filling a bag this size! Just a few weeks ago I did mine. I spent ages shredding up clothes after clothes after clothes and then about 4 hours to fill and compact! Well worth it though

We just stuffed ours and used it for a while, then stuffed more material in. Kicking an hitting did the compacting. Arguably that' s the lazy way, though. :))

I DID THIS EXACT THING WITH MY HEAVY BAG! i built a solid base then stuffed another bag into it that fit perfectly inside!

I had my eyes closed for the first 3 - 5 second and was wondering what i had skipped to 😅

I used ground newspaper insulation and sand once. It worked pretty good but the sand dust got out😮. So the thing ended up with tape on every scene and eventually just got switched out.

I use thick cotton 3 canvas bag(5'×2') Fill it up with the 0 grit sand. Place it in a leather bag and pack it tight again. Till today, i couldn't hang it.

I’ve done this twice. Heavy bags don’t ever come from the factory filled right. A couple months in and they settle.

Genuine question mate, as a boxer, do you need the extra length of such a large heavy bag? I get that it gives more stabily and less swing. Is it to avoid the rock hard settlement that one gets at the lower end or could that be remedied by putting the lighter filling at the bottom as you did?

Seal a vacuum bag around the top, suck out all the air that will compact everything down, release the vacuum, stuff more filler in, repeat, roll it on the floor to even out the lumps.

If you did what Rocky Marciano did and get a really heavy bag ( 300lbs I’ve read ) would it really help you to punch harder or would you be more likely to injure yourself? I’m asking as I know Rocky was literally like a rock, but boxers don’t seem to have bags as heavy. Is it likely to injure most boxers? Thanks

Mine was filled with sweater material, try putting a bed quilt inside or dust sheets..

I used to have the XL UFC heavy bag hanging from my Garage Rafters... If yer over 6ft and 200+lbs... Dont trust ONE beam to hold 100lbs while it swings furiously.

I personally use sand or fine sawdust

pro tip for the future. the bag gets more Condensed as it's punched and kicked. Refill bag Every Two weeks until you cannot fill it anymore. never try and fill bag in first week.
