I agree 100%! Every once in a while, I'll have a prospective customer that will question mobilization charges, and seem to disagree with it. It amazes me that some people cannot understand it and come to grips with it. It should be more obvious now than ever, considering diesel fuel at around $5.20 per gallon in my area. Mobilization is both time consuming, and costly.

Definitely it's a full day for me to mobilize three pieces of equipment to a site

Hey Boss , Great info. Trucks ,trailers ,insurance and maintenance is expensive . I am a rookie but I am learning . Now I charge what it would cost to have it hauled , just in case my truck or trailer brakes down .

Glad I found your channel man! #EliteEarthWorks gave you a shout out and I figured I would follow his advice! Great information, the amount of guys that don’t charge to move a piece of equipment to and from a site is beyond me.

That was some heavy rain yesterday. I was driving to my second job last night through one of those downpours. Going about 25 on a back country road, wipers could barely keep up. Then some yahoo going the other way doing about 45. Some people don’t think.

I am still always shocked at just how much time it takes to mobilize onsite. I like the longer jobs where I'm not spending so much time per job moving equipment around and hauling. And with fuel cost these days it's crazy.

Alot of companies will have a seperate equipment division that owns the equipment and rents it to the company for each job. Companies like Kiewit do that. So each machine is it's own profit center. Not only fo you have to pay for upkeep on the machines, but also your time is valuable also. I know when bidding jobs alot of companies will use a lump sum for mobilization. Do you use those volumetric mixers that mix small quantities of concrete off of the truck?

Brian thanks for your input.. yes I have used those small mixers on different projects... The problem is they're getting just as much as the big guys now.. Thanks

I always charged, had one person refuse ,I told him I couldn’t do the job without machines. Told him to hire some one to haul them then. Didn’t do the job.

Exactly it's crazy how many people don't charge for it The cost of truck and trailer tires ECT these days ! Tell them the rent one and they charge 2 bills to get it there each way anyway. 💯

When someone orders a load of gravel they are paying for the truck, so there is no difference in taking a load of gravel, or taking a machine. People that are not charging are loosing out big time.
