Thanks, well I popped into my local shop and picked up the Combat Patrol, their stock was VERY limited and they said deliveries have been slow recently so I'll probably grab the Seraphim from Firestorm, in the mean time, any tips on what I should be doing with the limited build options in the Combat Patrol box? Went to my local GW shop too and booked myself in for a couple of hours of beginner games next Thursday, that's their "open 40k" evening, every fortnight, the other week (today) is AoS, so going in the afternoon to learn then hang around for the evening to watch a few games. semi-retirement is fun.

One way to make a multi meltas is to take 2 of the meltas, cut off the barrels with a saw or hobby knife. Then using the heavy flamer , cut off its double barrel and attach the meltas barrels there. And presto, another multi melta for the army. I did that for the retributors since they only come with 2 multi meltas

I'd love to see sisters get Ministorum Meltas akin to their Ministorum Flamers and get anti vehicle 4+ or something similar.

Seeing the Tyranids basically copy the Sisters' detachment rule gave me a mental image of Tyranids in Sister armor. Reader, I *giggled.*

Guys, covert your weapons! For a multimelter ich clip off the barrels of the heavy flamer and then attach to meltagun barrels to the heavy flamer chausee. yes , this dont work for dominions then ( it kinda becuase there are 5 melta barrels in a box of 10 sororitas so you could still play the dominions mixed). Its so much Cheaper and its a damn shame you only get 2 multis in a retrubutor kit, they need 4 or at least 3 and a flamer.

Meltas are really good going up against nids. My friends screamer killer is still recovering mentally from the wall of meltas that we’re waiting for him on an objective.

Roleplaying sisters while being a sisters player is very easy: enduring suffering is our task, our way of life. We got the fixed size units because "we want you to be able to play with what comes in the box", but then you need other boxes to build the available options in the rules. Something tells me thst upon learning about this, GW will decide to remove those options, instead of adding the extra plastic.

And what's extra weird is that before the plastic re-release you used to be able to give any Superior a storm bolter, which now we can't presumably because there's no model option for it... even though the hand flamer and inferno pistol also have to be kitbashed?

My two BSS i run one with flamer heavy flamer and the other with storm bolter and heavy bolter. THe bolter squad usually has my canoness and dialogus in it to reroll hits and turn low miracle dice into 6s

I maintain that Heavy Bolters are underrated in our current codex. Unlike the nerfs meltas got across the board, Heavy Bolters kept their AP from 9th AND gained a deceptively great buff with sustained hits. Sustained hits works VERY well in a codex that can cheat 6s out, both in shooting phase and in overwatch. I currently run x2 cassies with 9 heavy bolter shots each, all my Sisters have a heavy bolter (ideally placed 6" up in a ruin for Plunging Fire). Mortifiers with x2 Heavy Bolters and I even run one unit of heavy bolter rets to sit 6" up on a ruin or hiding behind a tank for shooting and overwatch. Everyone like flamers for overwatch but heavy bolters with miracle dice are the better choice.

I guess the advantage of the modern Sister range is that you CAN swap models and parts from the Battle Sisters with other models and parts from other kits.

Each army is going to get a new unit/model ... Sister will get celestians back... In the same box

I was initially excited for the Crusher Stampede detachment until I read through the rule a few more times. It sucks because it limits you to either only taking a total of 3 units of 1 carnifexes, or taking 3 units of 2 carnifexes and not benefiting from the rule until you've lost one of the two models in those units.

Ah, the rule says BELOW half strength. So if you take a unit of 2 Carnifices (that's how it's pluralised btw) you will NEVER benefit from that part of the rule, I believe.

A sisters squad box was my first kit ever. Not just for sisters, not just for 40K, not just for tabletop wargaming… ever. It was my first time picking up a paintbrush. I had no idea what the rules were and wanted them to look cool, so I have a heavy flamer sister, a heavy bolter sister, two melta sisters, and the superior has an inferno pistol and power sword. Thankfully between the squad in the combat patrol that I’m pretty sure I’m getting for Christmas, I’m pretty sure I can at least make two legal fieldable units 😅

Best way i found the equip my battle sisters is give them all bolters paint them gold and tell them to keep quite and pretend to be sisters of silence so they can join custodes and win games and not die a horrible horrible death

Recently got back into 40k always wanted a sisters army so when I heard you could get them in plastic sold it to me. Started with a patrol box and a box of sisters that I built into dominions with 4 melta guns. My thinking was to use them as shock troops, run up in a rhino and cause some chest pains at close range. Looking forward to trying everything at a local gaming group soon.

I’m just starting in 40k for the first time ever and did the same. Combat patrol (arrives tomorrow) + box of sisters that I built as dominions with meltas. I think I made a mistake on the dominion superior though, I armed her with the multimelta but I chose the chain sword over the power sword. I’ve never played an actual game so I thought 3A looked juicy. And I just realised that the monopose superior from the combat patrol also has a chainsword :( so even forgetting the rules as they can change, I think I should’ve gone for the power weapon even for the looks! Also this channel is great for someone starting in 40k with Sororitas with literally zero gameplay experience!

Urgh! I thought I'd built my Heavy Weapon Sister with a Multi-melta. I got the Sanctorum Guard Set, which appears to be the super-fiddly multi-part kit. Even in the Sanctorum Guard box, I do not think you get a Multi-Melta in the kit for Battle Sisters. I thought I'd given her a Multi-Melta, and I didn't even Magnetize, because I thought the Heavy Weapon Girls were too fiddly. Turns out I gave her a Heavy Flamer. :( Worse still, I was building for 9th and magnetizing the Superior Weapon choice seemed too fiddly so for compromise I gavve her the combi then magnetised the top section to be one of the several options. So in 10th I've basically magnetized a purely aesthetic choice. :( At least the Magnetised special weapon girl makes some sense. :/

The super simple fix to melta weapons which I may start running in my group’s very house ruled games (we play with alternating activation), is to make it so that you also add the x from the melta rule to the str of the attack when within half range. Seems like it would at least help them be more on brand

Do you know much about the Adepta Sororitas combat patrol box? Or where I can find out what weapons are included? I'm hoping to go mostly flamers with some heavy bolters and I have no idea if it's going to work out better to get the smaller individual boxes in that case or if the combat patrol will provide most of what I need whilst saving me a fair amount of money.. 😅 Thank you so much by the way for all this excellent content, I'm brand new starting in the hobby and you have been an invaluable resource of knowledge!

Right now I have a Dominions squad that is short 1 model with a bolter, a heavy weapon and superior with no squad to go in (yes they used to be Celestians) and no idea how to fix it...

A Condemnor Boltgun is technically a Combi-Weapon, and as all Combi-Weapons are the same now, it doesn't matter which one it looks like. Therefore, if your enemy doesn't have much in the way of Psykers you can just say that your Condemnor is a Combi-Weapon and be technically correct- the best kind of correct!

You are aware that Enraged Behemoths detachment special rule considerably worse than The Blood of Martyrs detachment special rule right? Because it only effects Tyranids Monsters and a unit of two can never fall below half strength!

I know it is worse - though we don't yet know the strats that go with it. They will probably be better than the martyred detachment strats (I'm no a fan of those)

What characters should i be attatching to the Battle sisters squads? If any? I think you might of mentioned this but i cant watch the whole vid again rn. Also whats best on celestian sacresants character wise.

Battle sisters get tough with a Hospitaller, Junith makes them harder to hit and provides more flamers. Palatine is not a bad choice either. For the sacresants a hospitaller or imagifier makes them tougher, a canoness can be ok and a palatine helps their halbards

I would include a character on most of the Battle Sisters units I have but would only put a character in sacresants if there were 10. 5 sacresants should be alone

you can fire all guns or all pistols so if you have an inferno pistol then you can fire the inferno pistol and bolt pistol. People forget that the bolt pistol also exists for her and can be fired alongside other pistol weapons

Hey Chris, wouldn't it all be fixed if the Canoness could be attached to the retributor squad? I'm new in 40k, so, the f* would I know, but I find the 4+ bs skill of the multi meltas the hardest barrier for them to break things. I mean, not the 9 str, nor the T change on vehicles in 10th. Getting off an immolator, rerolling hits, wounds...dacing in the streets, mhm. (?) lov' ya :)

it would be nice to hit better/have re-rolls, or ministorum melta guns, special to us to work better. Hitting on a 3+ would be better, chaos havoks have that and retributers had that in 8th ed. That may be all that is needed to fix it

OMG, my brain is gonna melt. Just gonna start playing Warhammer after a 34 yr break and as I've never tried 40k before I thought I would venture into this. Decided on playing Sisters and going to buy the Combat Patrol for a starting base, I take it you can only build them one way, is that right? Should I be buying a second purely SoB box to give me all the right build options or can that wait? Not that I have an f'ing clue what to actually build even after watching this 4 times.

The combat patrol can only be built one way. The Sisters of Battle squad is ok by itself but I would recommend getting a Seraphim box with the combat patrol so that you can use the hand flamers and inferno pistols on the monopose seraphim from the combat patrol

I only played fantasy battle in the 80s and never tried 40k but I always remember it being a much bigger game re minis. Has it been scaled down over the years or am I just remembering wrong? My local independent store is only 5mins away from the GW store so I'll buy my kits there.

I think plasma pistol and relic blade is best (assuming you have the multipart kit) because then you can also have the option to say that she has a rod of office/plasma pistol/power weapon if that turns out better.

If you can only make it a squad of 10 dominions, why does the website say you can make it a squad of 5 celestians and 5 dominions? is it just left over from 9th ed that they havent changed?

It’s also on the manual in the box, and there are instructions on how to build a celestian squad. It was really confusing for someone new to the game coming into 10th edition using the index to find out that that unit doesn’t exist anymore lol
