HOW TO Enlarge Your Image Sketch | Drawing onto Larger Paper or Canvas
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is Part 1 of 2 on enlarging the photo onto your drawing paper (or canvas if you like).
When drawing from a photo, we might at times want to make our drawing LARGER than the original image. This is called Image Scaling. In this video, I will show you how to enlarge your image sketch for drawing by using the grid.

How do you get the grid on the original photograph please?
This was actually incredibly helpful. I knew there was a better way to enlarge with a grid without completely free handing it. I’m so glad to learn of the proportional divider. Appreciate the time you took to create this instructional video.

Glad it helped! Thanks for commenting. :-)
Yes, I love grid, I use it everytime. But you've helped me see it in a different light. All the measurements and foundation, I don't do that so I've learnt something. Really helpful tips that no one else shares. Thanks Rix

Well done --its the only way --used it for 50 yrs =!
Thank you for this one. It is easy to understand the direction. The math stuff is tricky. I appreciate your videos and know it’s lots of work to make them, so thanks.

You are so welcome! I appreciate your watching and commenting. Just remember that to enlarge by 25% you simply multiply your original square size by 1.25, and to enlarge by 50% you multiply by 1.5. :-)
Thanks learned a lot. Looking forward to more.

thank you! Although I use centimetres when measuring, your video helped me a lot transfering a virtual photo reference into my drawing sheet. Again, thanks for the explanation!

You're making my head hurts and spinning too listening to your explanations that I've to stop watching before it explodes. Thank you for the effort though.

Excelente,👏👏👏😅👍
Instead of the math, just find the centre of the paper by drawing lines diagonally, find the centre of original in the same way, then draw in the first box.

How do you have a square if all your lines are diagonal? Did you leave out some details to this suggestion?
I love to make several prints for you bigger training.
Could u pls do another full series with no time lapse. And where do you find these great images from??

Is this method a halfway house between hand drawing and tracing?🤔

This method is only for getting the initial proportions as exact as possible. The drawing phase comes next when you start shading, blending, layering, details, etc.
Hey how do I correctly scale up an image from my phone to a large canvas or large sheet of paper correctly without using an app such as DaVinci Eye🤔??

Unless you print it out, I have no idea how without the use of an app.
What paper do you use?

Bristol smooth.
Metric would make it much easier.😊
All sounds far too complicated. If I didn’t know how to do it I would have given up by now😂

Don't complicate things. Take a step back, breathe through the nose, exhale slowly from the mouth, ....
mt comment 9.5x2 should read as 9.5x 1.5 = 14.25
you are so frustrating to listen to with your poor common sense,9.5 x 2 gives 14.25 that leaves 9.75,so mark half of that from one end and mark 10 points 1.5 apart ( gives you 9 spaces) and the final 0.75 x1 the balance will be the margin on the other side do the same on the other side
