I wanted him to cut it out to leave me in peace. I realized he had to go and if he had a problem, oh well than, that was his issue not mine. I realized he led me on when he started disappearing little by little and only acknowledged my existence every now and then. It was humiliating because I realized he found someone else or already had someone else. I was someone to flirt with or someone he could pass the time with at work. I cried but I felt better after confronting my emotions. I didn't have an option but to accept that he never truly liked me, which was hard because he seemed very interested. Edit: Thank you for this video. I needed to see that vs listening to what my friends was saying about how he might be into me. I think i got led on by a guy at work. He was nice and friendly and he spoke to me the few times we bumped into each other but always alone and never in front of other people. When he's with his clique, he stares at me and looks away and I got weirded out. So the thing with me is that I like a guy and we dated for 2-3 weeks but it wasn't a "date" date. Everything started the year I got into high school. (5 years ago) He is 4 years older than me. He was senior and i was a freshmen. So we started talking 3 years after he graduated. But at that time he was in a 4 years relationship. Mine is complicated but here goes... I guess at first, I was the one lashing him on, I was only 13 when we met & truly didn't know better or even that I was doing it though. I had a bf & then met this guy in class & we became instant bffs, like we'd known each other forever! It as great! Especially bc at the time my bf wasn't great even I really thought he was the best. He ignored me a lot for video games or friends or his & just generally didn't test me right. I didn't know it at the time but it was a REALLY unhealthy relashionship! When we started dating I pretty much disappeared in my gfs for him & made him my while world. So meeting someone kind & genuine & sweet who treated me well and I instantly just clicked with was amazing & even addictive. I started realizing the friend was falling for me & I'd flirt & bask in attention. Looking back, it was really effed up! We stayed friends & had a very flirty relashionship for the next almost 3yrs Wyle I dated my bf. After we broke up I have the bff a shot but it seemed like he couldn't put in the effort. He never texted or called back, would show up late or not at all etc. I'd get fed up & end it but he'd beg fur another chance and I really missed feeling like I was special, like someone cared for the first time, so in the hopes of having a bf who treated me like I was important, I kept taking him back & trying again. It never worked & while he'd always say he would just get so worried that after all the waiting that he'd screw it up, he would just not call or text & avoid me to try to prevent that, I always thought if he knew that then he should make an effort to make me a priority & actually give it a real chance instead of sabotaging it. Bc of that I decided he obviously loved the IDEA of me as the unattainable dream girl that he'd created in his mind & finally ended it for good. We stayed friends, sometimes with benifits, & stayed really close for over a decade. Then we finally both got into new serious relashionship & moved on but when mine ended he picked up my old role in our friendship, the person in a relashionship who always flirts (which was just who we were by then & how related honestly, & I was fine with that) who likes to keep up the idea that they might leave their partner for the bff. He took it set further than I ever did though, kissing me sometimes & trying to hook up. By then we had completely switched roles. Bc of my latest breakup I was REALLY sad & vulnerable, so I raised him up in my mind to be a fantasy figure of a perfect relationship, at least in the abstract, because that was the idea that I'd had for so many years of what we could have been but never got the chance to be. I kept the idea in my mind that we would end up together one day I believe that so much that it took me years just stop picturing him any time I looked into the future. So we both Let each other on, 13 years apart, and pretty much the exact same way. We are still friends now although not nearly as close as we ever were before and sometimes got months or years. Even speaking. But to this day, if I text him and we start talking, it doesn't matter if we haven't spoken in several years at this point, we literally pick up exactly where we left off as the best of friends who tell each other everything like no time has passed and our relationship hasn't changed at all.
