Didn't work on a 2019 Mazda CX-5 Sig. I can get to the test screen, but pressing DEL for a long time doesn't do anything.

Exactly what I was looking for without need to install additional scripts. Just took car for quick spin, and can confirm that it does work. Thanks

I have a 2022 Mazda cx-5 and my wife has the 2017. I can get to the test screen but it doesn't enter JCI Test Mode once I've held down the DEL button for 20 seconds... Nothing happens...? Maybe a later version of software... Is there a way to work around this?

This works for 2017 mazda 3s 4 door and 5 door if anyone is wondering. Thx 4 the vid! I had debris near the buttons and one day the home key got stuck. Gl everyone

When I try on my 17' I get to the test screen but after holding DEL for 20 sec it just unclicks the button and I never get to where I can put in 11. Also noticed his enter button is constantly lit up like he can click it where mine is greyed out and can't be selected.. is this the new update he's saying makes it not work? I thought he was talking about cars from 2019 on

Works on 2016 CX-5 GX, GPS also works perfectly. Doesn't work on 2017 CX-5 GT, long press DEL on test screen doesn't bring up JCI test panel.

​@@katherinecress9282 I complained about this to the sales who sold me 2017 CX5 because there's a good chance passenger will use GPS rather than the driver. But he told me "as he knew", the company take this as a safety feature that the driver will never have a chance to reach out to the screen when car is moving, mostly for law sue consideration I assume. So the older models, when maintained in the dealer's shop, will be patched to close such "backdoor". However, I am not able to verify this information since I no longer have that 2016. I think you may check your software version to see when it's updated.

Skip the video and follow these instructions: Press Favorite + Mute + Music and hold for 2 seconds wait for the Test screen to pop up Press Del for 20 seconds, until it says "JCI test mode" type in "11" and hit Enter Choose a script you would like to run, Select Speed Toggle and disable. press "Ok" shut off the car, and new settings will take affect after the restart

What do you press in the cx5??

Not working on firmware 70.0.021 NA. You can hold DEL all you want but there’s never a test code. I’m curious if there’s another code in the newer software. I want to get the updated usb cables and connector for Apple CarPlay and not being able to touch is a show stopper. Heck not being able to move favorites around even at 10 mph stinks!

Any advice for a 2020 CX-9?

It doesn’t work... I press 20 seconds DEL and it does anything :(

@@2022908 I found an answer on Reddit: this only works if your system hasn't been changed. Once you get an upgrade like Apple Car Play, the system is locked and you're stuck.

Depends on your fw, do serial access apply id7 or id7v2 and then install touch enabled tweak kzread.info/dash/bejne/goyWrbiaf62WpLA.html

Just found out about this. Worked fine on my '16 MX-5 Miata (without navigation). Difficult to understand due to poor audio, but figured it out after repeated viewing. Particularly helpful because access to and use of the darned Commander controls is pretty much impossible in the Miata. Thanks mucho.

For starters I’m glad it worked for you, now if you want to change the color theme go to mazda3revolution.com and on search bar type all in one tweaks read the whole thing so you can understand and download the program, that will allow you to do several cool things to your Miata. ALSO DO NOT ADD CARPLAY TO YOUR CAR OR IT WILL CHANGE YOUR FIRMWARE TO ONE THAT NOTHING WILL WORK NOT EVEN THE TWEAKS.

@@sniiiiper If your firmware is 56.3xxxxx+, this trick won't work. If you have AA/CP, your firmware should be at least 70.xxxx +.

Other car companies don't do this, but you do have a point about drivers being attentive. That said, it's as if they don't consider the possibility of PASSENGERS. There's no reason a passenger shouldn't be able to use the touch screen. Mazda is over the top with this. It's annoying enough that we won't be buying another next time around...esp since this hack doesn't work on the 2020 CX5.

I did this trick on software v33, then updated to latest a few days later for CarPlay. I can no longer access JCI test mode but the speed limiter setting carried over. Now I have CarPlay and touch while driving. I’ve never used any tweaks. Hopefully someone else can reproduce this.

Super late reply, but I just ran into this problem. I think downgrading the software to v33, then disabling the touch, and then upgrading back to v70 might work. I’ll try this and let you know if it works, if you still care.

@@kmedado no. This is definitely a hack the dealers wouldn't support. My mazda is a 2017, and later software revisions made it much more difficult to do these hacks. The user forums would be your only resource.

Doesn't work for my EU Spec 2017 MX-5 RF GT. Test menu shows ## in the field above the keypad and a reference to the CD-Player or something (I'll confirm later) in both fields on the right, but doesn't do anything after twenty (or more) seconds of touching the DEL key. I never get to the point where I can enter the 11.

When i go to the test screen, I’m not able to press any buttons, when I’m in the main menu of the infotainment doesn’t matter if I’m parked or moving…touchscreen doesn’t work anymore. I upgraded the usb hub for carplay along with v70 software…along with a file to be able to tweak in the future, that’s how i was able to get all my abarth/fiat branding back, all works, i can still tweak with AIO, only problem is touchscreen. I reckon maybe the new usb hub doesn’t allow it

It does, the menu set up is a little different, going to use a different method to disable the touch lock.

Didn’t work for my 2016 cx5 :( that Aci test mode never comes up no matter how long I hold the delete button on the screen

You can still use the toggle, volume and next track switches to get around if your version doesn’t work.

Hey there! hope you're not still having this question/ issue, but if you are, the diag console works as a toggle for the button the guy in the video shows to press. Therefore if you want to toggle it off, all you need to do is go through the process presented in the video once more and that will toggle the option off, instead of on.
