I use that plastic to trace my sewing patterns so I don’t have to cut them. That way I can have all the sizes available without having to buy multiple copies of the same pattern. It’s way more durable than the tissue paper.

I like this idea. I use tracing paper but the plastic is definitely more durable. The tracing paper I use is thin and easily tears. Thanks for sharing this tip!!!

Awesome idea! What kind of plastic? Where would you purchase it? Thank you.
I just found your video for the first time. You did an awesome job explaining each step, and I'm so glad you did it on a multi needle and a single needle flat bed embroidery machine. I plan to add your video to a list for my students when I teach my patch embroidery class so they can have another option. By the way, I will personally be visiting Home Depot. Thank you for a wonderful video!

Well this was fun!! Love thinking outside the box. Well done!! Wouldn’t this stuff also work for Felties? Sure could save on stabilizer costs!!
@BoricuaSewingCrafts
Жыл бұрын
HI Cyn. You are so right! No stabilizer. The plastic is so much cheaper! I would only do this on Embroidery files where the design is completely filled with stitches. You would be wasting the felt because you won't see it.
I suggest you add a comment to not use plastic backed patches on work uniforms. Some fluids should not get on plastic and electric sparks are dangerous on plastic. But oh, I wish I could use this method for work uniforms. It is fantastic.

Yes just have the plastic and thread!
Hey Jeanette I was watching your video again . I Noticed that you use the round spool cap. There is another spool cap that looks like a short tube. It has a hole in the middle so it slides inside your thread spool and your thread does not get caught. Look in the little bag that came with your machine.

I prefer poly twill. It doesn't fade over time And I can use a hot knife to clean up the edges
@BoricuaSewingCrafts

HI Vivian. Yes I agree. Poly Twill is a great choice. I can be expensive thou. But it does provide a better quality patch. I use the hot knife for my edges too!
Blessed evening, Jeanette I have a question, its bean a year since you tried the plastic sheeting for patches. What is your opinion on it? Dose it last after washing and drying, and can you iron it without the plastic melting? Did you like the substitution for the polytwill? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping us at the same time. 💯🏆🥰🙏
@BoricuaSewingCrafts
13 күн бұрын
Hi. It depends on how you are going to use the patch. If you are placing it on a hat it’s good. If it’s for clothes or something that is going to be washed a lot use the poly twill.

This is great. After watching it, I realized that I needed to edit my pdf on Patches (Step 9, see below). I'd like to be able to make the Patch using an irregular Border, like you did in your first video. But when doing that, it would nice if we could add the Heat and Bond while it is still hooped. So, I was wondering if you can try this from Step 9 of my pdf: 9. After stitching the Design only....and before the final Satin/Merrow, here is Heat Seal Option1: a. With the Paper on….Glue and/or Press H&B Lite (or Fuse-n-Bond by Alltstitch) to back of Hoop, but only in the Center of the Design so that you can trim the H&B Lite. OR You can Tape the H&B Lite to the back of the Hoop. (Note: H&B can even be precut. I use a Cricut Maker.) b. Stitch it down with an Outline (Your Placement Stitch). c. Remove from Machine, not from Hoop. d. Trim H&B Lite close to Edge (unless you used a Precut). e. Remove paper from H&B Lite. 2. Stitch your 4mm wide Satin or Merrow. Jeanette, can you try this in a video for us?
@BoricuaSewingCrafts

I prefer to put it one after the patch is embroidered. Would not use the lite. It won't stick as well after washing. Lite is good for the fabric used for applique but not patches. Patches are on the heavy side so I don't think the lite will work. I noticed a lot of folks that do the patches use the ultra and the fabric tac glue. They all seem to apply this after the patch is completely stitched out.
@WeQuiltStudio
Жыл бұрын
@@BoricuaSewingCrafts ohhh, I didn't realize you were using the Ultra. That makes total sense now. Ty sew much for clarifying this.
Will this plastic work if your using a twill fabric also for the patches? I would think..but just checking to see if you tried that as well..I do like it with the fill stitches..tks
@BoricuaSewingCrafts
Жыл бұрын
Hi Linda. The plastic will work for embroidery designs that are completely filled. If you have a patch design that is not filled then I recommend using the twill fabric.

Section 37:07 comparing both patches, why is the white bobbin thread around the circle showing through the blue thread? Letter L is solid blue, but the blue circle is not. Thanks.
@BoricuaSewingCrafts
Жыл бұрын
That's how the design was made. Those areas are usually filled when the patch is sewn on the garment. I think the edge needs to be more solid. I don't like the white showing thru. If you have the fill in stitch and the edge the same color you won't see this. I am not a fan of the satin stitch design they used.
