How To Embellish Texture on an Art Print using Z Gel

To Buy:
www.damicogallery.com/product...
I want to let everyone know there is a really cool product we sell. I get asked a lot about printing limited edition prints (read about that here ). As an alternative I have suggested adding a personal touch by hand embellishing a texture on your giclee canvas art print or reproduction to give it a truly one of a kind look and feel that simulates texture as you might find on an original painting.
It’s pretty simple. Simply brush this stuff on, let it dry, and then your print has texture. I advise using some old gnarly brushes as it helps with the texture making.

Great vid. Exactly what I was looking for. I'd had this idea to make some photoshop prints on "canvas" but wanted to see if anyone else had actually had any luck pulling it off and what type of "varnish" would work. I printed my designs via an online service on to a wooden framed PVC "canvas". They looked kind of plasticy and flat. If you catch them at the wrong angle to the light, they lose all authenticity. And have to contact the printers to see how the prints and the PVC canvas might respond to this product. Maybe try it on a small test print. Thanks again for the video. This could be a great solution.

Its about the biggest and fastest in north america. you can always send us originals. but if you're a digital artists then your exactly right. Add the texture you want. Also I will tell you our printers are way better than most anything you will ever find from most online retailers. You should send me a file and i will send you a proof on several materials. Probably not the best idea to use it on a paper product. Paper tends to still have some observed of qualities even after being printed. Therefore you might see some waviness or tension build in the substrate. You’re advised only to use on a canvas product that has been coated after printing.

I don't advise this as you can run the risk of sealing the outer exposed surface too fast. this can lead to hazing. If you are on the fast dry track I have found a hair dryer or heat gun (heat seems to help avoid hazing when speed drying). I don't know the long term ramifications of this but I believe it will be fine. keeping it indoors but setting it in the sun through a window works nicely too if you're in a hurry.

I had heard adding corn starch to the mod podge helps … and I guess it does a bit … but don’t use it on a dark picture because sometimes you can see tiny little balls of white . There HAS. To be something out there that you can add to thicken it up that dries clear , but I’ve had no luck finding it :( it’d be so much easier than doing 5 coats . The matte is the thinnest , the shinier the podge the thicker it is … but I don’t want it shiny .

So that print is on canvas. Basically any fine art reproduction printed with an inkjet printer is technically a Giclee. And, they are all prints. Regardless of their media type. I will tell you though the Z gel product works best on canvas simply because it is typically coated with a UV varnish. Plus The paper media products still have some absorptive qualities and can tend to wave and buckle when you apply something like Z gel.
