HOW To Eat If You Have IBS or SIBO

Mindful eating and intuitive eating are cool and all, but is this really powerful enough to treat something like SIBO? Is the idea of "chewing more" just nonsense, or is there actually some legitimate science behind this recommendation? I think you can guess my stance on the matter, but you'd better watch this video to get the full scoop (and science!) ;)

I appreciate this video. As someone who works in marketing, I totally hear you on that paradox: the unsexy, algorithmically-challenged videos are often _exactly_ what people need to see and hear. Hoping this algo comment helps get this video in front of folks who need this flotation suit in the deluge of conflicting SIBO info (and predatory marketing practices) on the web! Side: I've been dealing with IMO for a decade. I've given up on a "cure" and focused on these practices along with meditation and therapy. I'm not ever gonna feel 100%, but I at least have regained some semblance of control and normalcy in my life. Godspeed

I"ve been hearing the food-chewing advice for probably decades now but so far it has barely stopped me from just unhinging my jaw and inhaling. Time for another try at a new habit.

I i also really appreciate your videos. After 35 years dealing with major gut issues, you help me consider new, wider perspectives that other doctors dont seem to address. This is very valuable to me. Thank you.

I think the "sexiest" thing I've heard you say is to not starve yourself on an elimination diet! This is the biggest turn on for me! I love your commonsense approach and your delightful personality. You are the best, IMO. You will most likely see me in the FODMAP Freedom group. I have horrible allergies and have been struggling with sinus problems for years. The doc. says I also have silent GERD. I am refusing the PPIs so I need realistic and practical advice. ❤ thanks so much for all your wonderful podcasts and KZread presentations.

Maybe try adding a fast here and there, 24 hours of fasting releases gut stem cells! 😊

Hello from N.C. 🇺🇸 I finally got off omeprazole after 30 years and I'm trying to heal my gut with low carb/no sugar /no grains. Im taking L-glutamine to heal my gut. Should I take probiotics now or only after my gut is healthy? I still have some bloating and occasional gas going on. I love your channel and thank you! ❤

@JennWatson were you diagnosed with a specific condition? I was diagnosed with GERD 8 yrs ago but one day out of the blue Protonix quit working and my Dr put me on Pepcid AC, Dexilant, and lastly Nexium. None of them worked and made me sicker. So I’ve not been taking anything for the GERD for basically 2 yrs now. I think I need to be checked for SIBO but don’t know how to get started? I’m trying to find a gut health specialist now. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Since I can remember my dad always chided me for eating too fast. Also being severely anemic I wonder how that correlates to lack of blood flow/volume to the gut.

I really think our body is intelligent to know when to release enzymes, etc.. it does what it needs to do with the very first bite of food. No real need for regular meal times. Our ancestors never knew when they'd catch or find their next meal, and I'm pretty sure they didn't have any issues.

I’ve read articles on this recently and I’m undecided. I agree our body is very intelligent and indigenous didn’t eat at reg times until forced to except rare ones today. But has our nervous system evolved to our modern way of life? I’m not sure. I’d say try both ways and see what works for each person.
