I was following this and then checking the ACF documentation acf_register_block_type is no longer valid and instead we should be using register_block_type. I'd love to follow along to another video like this using the new method. Thanks for taking the time to film these.

Thank you for this. I'm trying to find what are the differences between ACF and Genesis Custom Blocks. They seem very similar at first. And might I say, this video looks so good! I'm starting my channel and have been researching framing, lighting, overlays, green screen content, and music -- this video is a great example of something well-made!

Custom PHP blocks are good but what a great leap it will be when ACF can build React based blocks.

We have been doing this a while now, I found making your own section block with an innerblock then using smaller blocks that are simple is best. Good luck!

Why use your own section block compared to using something like the default section block, or kadence row layout? Really curious! Maybe you could show the controls you have for your section block? I'd be happy to connect and share my expertiences, I'm using ACF-blocks almost exclusively :)

@@markus9312 So the reason I made my own section block is because it makes it very easy to globally control the max width of my content on the website. Additionally, it makes it very easy to control my padding across the website. For my section block, I have very minimal settings which include being able to change the background color which has the options of the five theme colors that are in my theme.json, custom color, and background image, The padding to three default padding settings I have as well as custom padding. (Padding only top and bottom) I also have the ability to remove max width on my section. This keeps all sections of the website consistent sizing and padding and I can make small functional blocks inside of here

@@monstermage285 Awesome, thanks for your quick reply! It certainly sounds like a great option to keep everything consistent - which I'm a real sucker for. Would you place this block inside itself (with innerblocks), if you for example want a full-width background but text contained, or do you have an option for this aswell?

@@markus9312 so by default the text and anything inside this block is contained without the default max width for the website. The background image defaults to the full section. So basically it's just a wrapper for everything to go inside of. I do not use this except for a top level block but I put all my blocks in here.

In theorie I understand. But for me (and understanding best) I need to have a look first (!) at the result. Did I miss something? The screen at the frontend shown at 0:22 was not the result. This was a little bit confusing.

where is the output? You have to display the output from the editor as well as from the front. Without output, this is not helpful.
