Exactly what I was looking for - how to create this effect with Pro dye. Thank you!
Thanks creative awl, I've always paid a stupid amount of money for leathers with this look, but your video has changed the game! I feel like I owe you money for this 😆
Please make more video abouth dyeing your video look simple and eazy , i think it need some tips and trick to achieve good dyeing .
Beautiful job man, love the music you edited in. I can see it's truly a labor of love for you, but then again so can anyone who only sees the finished product

Nice!
Amazing. Can this treatment be done on a car seat? Do you need to strip the leather from the seat or?
can i dye leather with fabric paint?
Que acabado haces por dentro?. Gran trabajo.
What type of oil do you use? Thanks.
Hi Creative Awl, Quick questions, if you don't mind! - Doesn't the neatsfoot oil darken the colours too much? - Does linseed darken it less than neatsfoot? - Do you use it pure or compound? - Can you just go with resolene after dying without oil? Thanks! Gilles Belgium
You have a beautiful talent, keep vlogging...
Thank you for showing us. With black pro dye I need to rub it off with a cotton cloth. I’m surprised you don’t do that here. Maybe the resolene bath took care of it?
@CreativeAwl

Thats true with black one. I've drop just a little of dye on it so leather just soak in all of it.
nice, for less shining or even matt what you are proposing? thanks

Hello, i would use resolene mixed with water at least 50:50 or use eco-flo satin shene
Thanks, this is exactly the information I needed. But a question...when putting on the dye, how do you prevent it from getting onto the underside and leaving splotches of color there?
@mikedegrazia

Use less dye, its soaking through.
Thank you very much for this exactly what I was looking for.... Would you use the same technique for both Oil and Water based Dyes? Loving your videos btw... very very informative..... cheers!

Yes the same exact technique can be applied to both water and alcohol based dyes. Just dilute water with water and alcohol with a solvent.
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, Great Job, Suggestions, try a wide squat cosmetic brush it leaves a unique pattern similar 2 what you have but different, I'm old I still prefer Bees wax instead of eco flow. Just suggesting, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾️🙃

Neatsfoot oil will be the best
Could have been answered in another comment but are you supposed to buff the leather after dyeing and between all the protective coats as well?
@CreativeAwl

Yeah, you should. Ive really did that but any excess didnt left on the surface so i miss that part on video but i should mention about that.

@mikedegrazia

@@fhng veg tan is extremely dry and stiff. You could add neatsfoot oil to soften it up but its never going to be soft as chrome tanned.
1:04 Does diluting dye with alcohol reduce the chance of "blotches/spots" ? Thanks
@CreativeAwl
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, while dyeing with dilluted dye the blotch will be not visible or will be possible to shade with additional layers of dye.

Wouldn't appling neatsfoot oil to the leather them sealing with resolene not work because the resolene does not stick to the oiled leather?

Usually it does need a finish or( resist), but you can leave it as is. Its going to rub off and be dry and look unfinished.

Do you only need to use oil after dying or does all leather need to be treated with oil before sewing? Or is it typically pre-treated?
@CreativeAwl
4 жыл бұрын
Hello, only hand-dyed leather needs to be oiled to make it more flexible but to be clear you can oil almost any leather which has been not finished. Depends of your/leather needs.

You can use white acrylic paint in thin layers its not as perfect as say white chrome tanned pre dyed but it is very resilient and it looks fairly good. Id probably finish it with some type of a resist just in case so it doesnt chip the trick is light watered down coats.
