@@MarioHernandez-zc7dv because all strings lose/gain tension (also neck etc.) when you drop or tune-up one string like the low E, also the intonation might as well be out of tune, if you drop/ up tune your Guitar - but it depends on the qualiity of the wood and tuner, etc...

Most guitarists I've known are the penultimate mommas boy (excluding me) who never venture outside the house. Tools are frightening and confusing to them. If they have a girlfriend, she better know how to change a flat tire.

How this works for anyone that is confused: A floating Floyd Rose tremolo requires perfect equilibrium to stay in tune. The force exerted by the strings (which pulls the bridge forward) has to be matched by the force exerted by the springs (which pulls the bridge backwards). When the two forces are equal the bridge will float in perfect barlance parallel to the body of the guitar. If you just detune the guitar with the tuners and lock it back up it will NOT work. By lowering the tension of one string the springs are able to pull the bridge back and increase the overall tension. If you try to tune the guitar normally it takes forever because you have to constantly retune to gradually pull the bridge upward. And when you're trying to drop tune the balance is even more fucked up. This method bypasses as lot of that shit. By blocking the trem the force of the springs is capped. No matter how much force they exert the bridge won't move past the block. So with the trem blocked you can tune as you would normally without having to keep retuning to compensate for the spring pull. When the strings are tuned at the headstock the strings are going to exert the exact pressure they need to stay in tune. You're essentially setting a basepoint: String tension is X, so for the bridge to float the spring tension must also be X. When you remove the block the strings go out of tune. If you've tuned the guitar down then the springs, which are set to exert the force needed to match the force of strings tuned to E Standard, are going to pull the bridge down too sharp. This needs to be fixed and it is a simple matter of adjusting the claw. By screwing the claw in you are increasing the spring tension (dramatic increases can be done by adding or removing springs, as seen in the video). And conveniently enough, when the spring tension matches the string tension the guitar will be in tune and the bridge will be parallel. It happens automatically. Isn't it magical?

Guys I don't know what you are all talking about, I was so afraid to mess with my Floyd rose guitar cause I've never tried anything on it out of fear of messing it up, this morning I grew some balls and did exactly what was done in this video... I think that it's in your character, If you can follow instructions closely and backstep when needed then you will have no problem... The tricky part for me was the step in which I needed to remove the spring.. The screws were too far out, so I removed it and screwed em back in.. Now my guitar is in perfect drop B with leveled fine tuners and flat straight Floyd rose mechanism... I will check it again this afternoon for detuning and stuff but I think it's gonna be fine... Plus the extra 50 dollars in my pocket and this feeling of accomplishment are just too priceless... Tinker around people! It's the only way to learn! :) have a great day

I own a B.C. Rich WMD Warbeast with the floyd Rose. I remember, when I first got it, I figured out how to get it in tune and stringed by using a diagram, and a very wordy "article". After 3 years of military service and being in college, I just didn't have time to work with it, and forgot how to do this system properly. This video helped me greatly. Watched through it's entirety twice, and after I spent an hour frustrated this helped me drop my WMD to Drop B in minutes. Thanks Good work.

Nobody there wanted to teach me how to do it, they were saying "don't touch it, you're going to break your guitar" or "this is too complicated, let the professionals do their job". Thanks to you I have discovered that it's not that difficult once you have secured your floyed with your dad's business card (personally I used my hover warranty book). Thanks down this vid bud! Proud new owner of a few new floyd loaded axes and as you can imagine its been quite a learning curve! I gave up on them in the 90s. I knew what i was getting into with these but I love the way they feel and the whole concept of the Floyd system so im trying my best to be patient my biggest problem so far has been when tuning to E flat the bridge itself not being flush in the cavity. Watching this i realize i need to either remove a spring or go much deeper with the claw wich i was hesitant about. Of the 3 guitars(a fender Frankenstrat im putting together with an original German made 84 spec Floyd a Charvel pro mod HH So.Cal black strat with a Floyd 1000 and an EVH Wolfgang special with the evh branded floyd)the plan was only floating 1 of them wich is the Charvel with the cavity. Learing how to set these up level and intonate them without snapping high E strings, well...theres def some Mr Miyagi -Karate kid catching flies with chopstick moments going on here. I can picture guitar techs, guys like you everywhere laughing at my rookie mistakes lol Im determined to pull it off proficiently as i need to tweek these beautiful guitars as i need and its possible cuz of guys like you sharing this info & making these vids. I used your method, modified for a non-Floyd guitar, and it worked like a champ. Here is something to save your subscribers a lot of headache. MAKE SURE YOUR STRINGS HAVE BEEN STRETCHED!. Trying to tune a Floyd with new strings will drive you nuts. A tip: tune each string a note above standard. It will strech them nicely.

Hey man! Very nice video! I've probably watched it at least 20 times! Just wondering, what string gauges should I use for dropping to B or C, I've got a Jackson with a Floyd Rose (:

a VERY neat device called "tremol-no" attached between the tremblock and springclaw lets you lock the tremolo and drop tune as u would on a hardtail! Highly recommended!!

another good way to keep the same settings (of a regular tuning) on a lower tuning is to use a heavier gague strings so you get a similar tension at a lower tuning ;) I use 10/52 strings for open B tuning and the settings of the Floyd Rose are about the same of a regular tuning with 10/46 strings

Nice vid but what I do is use a custom block I made to float the floyd dead level relative to string tension and when tuned to pitch the block will barely fall out. Also I always replace my springs with older style floyd as the new ones sometimes take a lot of wear until they are stable. hope this helps some

Wow, I was always under the impression that you had to change to a thicker gauge for even half step drops!
