    hey mate just want to say thank you so much for a detailed description as mainly i am the drop kicker in my team but recently my technique has gone a bit weird and as i have some big games coming up (potential scouting for me) it has really helped me improve and get more height on the ball, you probably won't see this as the video was made long ago but thanks i love your educational videos keep it up

    A great video and really good coaching. My only addition is something I took from a Dan Carter video - sometimes it is better to hold the ball lower i.e. at thigh height rather than belly height so the ball doesn't have so far to drop.

    Yes is can be hard playing on grounds that are muddy or uneven. Best you can do is ground check before kick off's and if it is an in game drop kick try get on the ball slighter earlier if you cannot trust the ground. Pete

    Oh my god yes I have to kick super early as soon as it hit’s the floor because my field near me is unbelievably uneven 😂 I might have to find a nicely cut field for my next practice just to see the distance.

    @@rugbybricks Cheers, Pete! Drop kick practice has increased! My range, accuracy and best of all, consistency have all improved. Thanks for inquiring! Nice video! What are you looking at during the ball drop? The ground or are your eyes following the drop of the ball?

  • @rugbybricks

    @rugbybricks

    2 жыл бұрын

    Great question! Eyes on ball for me so that my brain can figure out how the ball dropping is looking and then get a quick read of what happened with the bounce. The brain is a seriously good computer.

    Should one kick from the side of the foot or the top? I see that you go with the top of the foot, but that leads to a really high ball. What about a starting kick, where you would like a really flat kick?

    Love your work Mr Breen Esq. !! Backs Coaching a newly formed Women's team with alot of new players. Trying to get kicking skills going in separate Kicking Group sessions. Your vids are really valuable for sharing and increasing knowledge so girls know what and why we're doing stuff! One request is that some of the girls have a more natural "Step Thru" action when Goal Kicking. Any chance you can expand at some point to include conditioning drills/advice etc to refine their technique? That said you are a fantastic resource for Grassroots Rugby over here in UK!! Thanks so much for all your work! 🙂👍🏻👟🏉

    Hey Andy, A slightly more "Step Thru" action is very UK! I am a big fan of the hop follow through as it allows you to raise the ball and finish the job with your kicking foot. Check out this video on the HOP technique. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4umzrKOgLWdqdY.html Thanks for the support. Pete

    Hello my problem is that i actually drop using one hand. But my problem is that i mess up my timing because of the ground im playing on. When im playing on ground like what you are playing on is it drops so much higher so i have to have later timing. But when i play with taller grass i have to have quick timing since the bounce is so much lower. What is your tips to stay consistent also if you have any recommendations for cheap boots for kicking much appreciative as im young and expected to buy my boots on my own.

    Just depends on the outcome of the kick you are after, the higher the bounce and contact the higher the kick. I speak about this here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZHh9sNRteqTWhJM.html
