How to drop into Corbet's Couloir when hard packed

2018-2019 Season everybody hanging out and no one dropping in. It was a hard landing on hard pack. Sorry about the language I was a little pumped!!! Just to clarify this I know some are upset saying I cut off the kids that were sliding down the side of the hill and I'm a bad person because of it. But the truth is if I was going to slide down the side of the hill I could have hung out all day long but standing there at the edge of a cliff ready to jump the longer you stand there the harder it is to go. The people with cliff experience understand. Like the ski instructor said the longer you stand there the more messes up your head.

I know it can be annoying waiting for the noobs but it always makes me think back to when that was me. I can remember struggling and having people drop in next to me, seemingly getring anxous and just going for it. Still 30 some years later I can still remember all my lessons om the slope. I remember being 8 years old and the instructor losing me one morning. It was a pretty traumatic experience as a kid on the slopes, until I learned how to ski it all. Like the instructor said, call it. When your ready your ready.

also people have speculated about what is the steepest angle possible to ski....at how many degrees is it still a) possible for the slope to hold snow, and b) possible to hold an edge.... I guess if you huck a 100 ft cliff that's kinda like skiing a 90 degree slope, lol, or if you straight-line some insanely steep chute, then holding an edge isn't really an issue, but the fact that people can actually hold an edge on that side-wall is really amazing It looks to be waaay beyond 60 degrees and closer to 80 degrees...it exceeds the steepness where I would've thought it's impossible to control speed, but I guess that fact that's it's got some ruts, actually gives the ski's a little bit more to bite into...

There is Western hard pack and there is Eastern hard pack. This is what we call packed powder. We don't even consider things icy until its boiler plate. I once was skiing Alta on a poor snow year and the trail was hard pack. The locals were standing there making a big deal of it. My friends and I just hammered it. We ran into them later in the day and they said you must be from the East. Yeah, we can ski anything. That whole week we skied bumps with no one on them. It was a great week for us and lousy for the locals. I get it pow is awesome.

it's crazy to me that they actually take a bunch of little kids up there. Imagine being the instructor (or the parents)....that's even scarier that sending it off the cornice...cause you can tell the kids how to ski it, but you can't necessarily save them if they f it up....putting your own limbs and ligaments at risks is one thing, putting the limbs and ligaments of a dozen pre-teens at risk is another
