Thank you for this video! I have been watching hours of training videos and this is the first I’ve seen that explained this process. I have my Class B with passenger to drive a school bus. I plan to complete this year and over the summer go to a truck driving school for my class A. Videos like yours are so helpful so that I can get familiar with the process. Thank you again!

Another thing I do is when I'm backing under the trailer I let the turntable hit the trailer or go just under it, get out and check the heights. Sometimes there's a gap, or sometimes you need to drop the airbags to get under it. Great video, even though it seems simple it can be done wrong and damage can be done, trailers can be dropped.

Thanks for the ❤! I've been driving for 10 years, and there are some days, (not every day) but I still manage to get myself in a binds with dropping or hooking loaded trailers from time to time. You can bust the crank shaft if you're not careful, you can jump the 5th wheell, which I haven't done, but have seen done on loaded trailer, you better hope you're granny gears in the trailer are in good working order, and get someone with knowledge to help you! Good idea to carry a pipe 3 feet long that fits over the crank handles just incase so two people can push on it. What to do if the trailer you need to pick up was dropped to low & you can't get under it. You can't ram into it and hope it picks up. I've had the bolt in the crank handle sheer off several times on me while cranking, so it's wise to keep a few machime bolts nuts and washers with you & a basic set of wrenches with you, because when the handle falls on the ground, you aint turning it anymore. The problem with CDL schools and instructional videos is that they are geared towards help you pass the cdl test, but do not help at all with real world situations that will happen to you. This shit always happens on a Friday afternoon when you're very tired & you just want to go home, but now it's cold, you're in a jam, there's no one around and your f**ked. The CDL school I went to gets a A from me for preparing me to pass the CDL test, but gets an absolute F for preparing students for the real world. Like backing. 100 yards straight line back for the test ✅️ and 45° angle back on drivers side with orange cone markers for the test ✅️. That's fine for starters, But nobody does that in the real world. Your just flying blind in the real world until you get into a difficult place. They should take students to different industrial places, where there are different Doc situations. Start easy, and increase difficulty as student progresses backing, so they don't panic the first time you have to block traffic with your truck from both directions (the 4 wheelers have no idea how much stress the truck driver is under) the road is narrow and there is a mailbox that your gonna take out if you start turning to early, so you miss the mailbox now your ass end is too far over, so you have to try again. That's just one scenario! I digress.😊
