How to drive a manual car - How to use clutch control at roundabouts

Clutch control on roundabouts www.driving-school-beckenham....
Learning clutch control is important, especially if you want to move off quickly at a roundabout. Learning to drive a manual car / stick shift can sometimes seem difficult. Knowing when to go on a UK roundabout & being confident with the gas and clutch control at roundabouts is. Not using the gas and clutch properly will mean you'll be stalling or moving onto the roundabout slowly.
This video was made for our subscribers who requested us to make it to help them with the gas and clutch control. This video will help you if you're learning to use the clutch and if you want to know when to go onto a roundabout safely. Have a look at our other video to make sure that you understand how to do roundabouts.
Want to know all about roundabouts then have a look at our other video - • How To Deal with Round...
Clutch control tutorial - • Clutch control driving...
If you do stop at a roundabout, then use the handbrake. It's very useful as it means that you can use the gas to help you move off quickly (less chance of stalling too).
When you see your chance to get onto the roundabout, give it more gas, get the biting point, release the handbrake, more gas and then raise the clutch quicker. You can then change up to 2nd gear.

Watched it, learned to always use the gas before releasing the clutch Use the hand brake whenever required, don't hesitate to use the handbrake when having to wait Get to the gas, push gas so clutch can come off faster Always struggling with this, lesson tomorrow, can't wait to practise and get muscle memory to memorise the whole thing

Your videos have been an absolute asset to me whilst learning, I’m nearly there, coming up to being test ready. Having a little bit of an issue with nerves - slowly easing off- and approaching traffic lights on hills but these clips are really helping. Super informative. Thank you!

This was so helpful thank you! I find it overwhelming taking this all in whilst driving. So it's great to be able to focus just on clutch control here so I can remember it in stages, without the stress of actually driving at the same time. Feeling more confident already, thank you for helping me to understand it so clearly.

Fab video as always! As a new driver I still find them tricky at times, especially when it's very busy and it's stop-start traffic. I've quickly found out that the gas pedal is my friend whilst trying to get the car moving swiftly at a roundabout, though! I may have said this before, but I think these videos are extremely helpful to any driver who would like to improve their skills!

The seconed last turn where the other guy went on when he shouldn't have, is a prime example of the tricky thing about round abouts is when people do such thing and mess it up so even if it's your right way, there will always be some dogey movers. So expect the expected and dont just move off fast, mirrors are so important.

My best advice to anyone is to watch videos and put it into practice. I myself can say they do help, but an instructor will teach you as a beginner and never from the videos you see. Actual lessons are hardwork and you need all 4 limbs working especially in a manual car. All lessons are unique to each pupil. An instructor will know what you will need to keep perfecting before he allows you to move onto the next manouever.

This video only shows examples of when to go. Only go onto roundabouts when it's safe and you feel comfortable. Don't cause another driver to slow down, stop or swerve. It's highly recommended that you take some professional driving lessons with a driving instructor. Keep safe on the road.

I hate roundabouts on my lessons, I feel like I can't get off the mark quick enough and start to panic a little and stall. What's the best way to overcome this?

please could you make a video about how to stay in the correct lane using the right steering either turning to left or turning to right road also with the bend or t junction and what will be the reference point to keep away from the kerb as well as not to get over to another side of the road, thank you

Hey, first of all - your videos are great! I've learned a lot from them :) This is much clearer comparing to my driving instructor. For example, I see that very often you go to 1st gear even before you stop on give way line so you could pull away faster when the chance arises (I know that you keep your foot on the clutch), while my instructor keeps saying to me that I should never go back to first gear while the car is on the move, and only to go to 1st when the car has completely stopped, causing me to act slower when I need to pull away (it's more logical to me to sort of "prepare" 1st gear, like you do). Any comment on that? Cheers

Great videos it's helping me a lot. I just wanted to confirm something. When you stop and move off. If u give more gas does it mean you can release the clutch quickly. Than suppose to giving litte gas and than slowly releasing the clutch. It will be really helpful if you can answer it. I'm taking my lessons now. Thanks

Hi Chris, thanks again for the great effort you've put into making these awesome tutorials! May I just ask a quick question, how can I launch faster at roundabouts? Is it simply giving more gas on the biting point, like doing a hill start, then release the handbrake? Would be grateful if you could provide some tips! Cheers.

Great video's as always mate, thankyou! Just wandering if this is a petrol or diesel car? I'm thinking of using the AA but they use the new ford fiesta which is petrol which are harder to drive than a diesel as you need to apply gas? Cheers bud

So you change to second gear before steering around the roundabout. I think that statement has just corrected my biggest mistake as I struggle to change gear while steering to keep in the middle lane and then quickly indicate my exit.
