How To Deal with Roundabouts Driving Lesson

How to do roundabouts & understand roundabouts rules at driving-school-beckenham.co.u.... A brief guide on how to do UK roundabouts driving lesson. When to go on a roundabout? What lane do you need on a roundabout? How to approach a roundabout? These are all common questions when it comes to understanding roundabouts and negotiating UK roundabouts and they're all answered in this video on dealing with roundabouts. We also show you how to negotiate mini-roundabouts and give you driving test tips along the way. If you're looking for help on how to do roundabouts, then hopefully this video will give you the driving test tips that you need in understanding roundabouts. In some countries roundabouts are called traffic circles. If you're looking at how to deal with traffic circles in the UK then this video will help.
Turning left, 1st exit at the roundabout:
Keep in the left-hand lane. Check mirrors, signal left. Give way to the right. Once you're on the roundabout and about to exit then check mirrors again, keep the left signal on to exit the roundabout.
Follow the road ahead, 2nd exit.
Keep in the left-hand lane (unless signs or road markings tell you otherwise). No signal needed. Once it's clear to the right then go and keep in the left-hand lane (unless road markings or signs tell you otherwise). Before leaving the roundabout, check mirrors, signal left and then exit.
Turn right, 3rd exit.
Check mirrors, signal right and approach in the right-hand lane. Give way to the right. Once it's clear then keep in the right-hand lane. Before leaving the roundabout make sure that you check your mirrors, signal left and then exit.
Hesitation at roundabouts is common. In one of the sections of this video we show you opportunities and examples of when to get onto a roundabout and which lane you'll need. These are only examples of ways to avoid hesitating at roundabouts, only go when you feel it's safe. Taking the wrong opportunity can be dangerous, so be careful.

I passed on my 4th attempt, all 3 failed due to misinterpreting other drivers' intentions when entering a roundabout. I passed because I decided to change to 2nd gear when approaching a roundabout, which was something I didn't do before. This is my tip: If you select 2nd gear on approach, the car will be in the right gear if there is no traffic or you require power. But if there is someone approaching, you are going slow enough to safely stop and select 1st gear. This is something my driving instructor never shared with me so I want to help you save hundreds of pounds in failed exams.

Being autistic means I find driving very difficult indeed. I can honestly tell you in ten years I finally understand how to choose which lane to use on roundabouts. i NEEDED to know this, and yet no one could explain.. not sure why. +Eccentricka1 Nobody wants to trash their car. And I'm talking about everyone around you. Just be decisive - that's the golden rule of driving. If you find yourself in the wrong lane, just make it obvious by your actions which way you are going (not just indicators, but decisive car 'body language'). A slight move in the direction you want to go will often be enough to persuade other drivers to give way (except in London). But be aware of whether that means a violent change in course - if so, you'll need to use your indicator. Indecision is the only way you can fail the driving test in "open play". And, generally, the only way you can get trashed on the roads. Be positive and assertive -make other road users know what you are planning to do. When you commit to an action - DO IT! Do not try to backtrack. Let's say the examiner says "please take the 4th exit" at a terrifying roundabout, and you accidently go for the 3rd exit. As long as you drive safely, you're still passing the exam. Use the 3rd exit - because that's what the other drivers are expecting you to do. Do NOT wildly veer towards the 4th at the last minute. The examiner will understand. You are being tested on your ability to be a safe driver, not to follow instructions. Under such pressure, and making such a mistake - any examiner would applaud you for making the safe choice. You'll pass. You took a decisive decision down the 3rd exit - it was the wrong one, but other road users weren't surprised by your action. Having made a navigational mistake, you did the right thing. Any driving examiner would lap that up! It shows decisiveness "I'm wrong, but I won't endanger other road users - so I'll take the course they expect me to take". Also be reactive. The roads are filled top to bottom with morons who've all, in the distant past, passed the same exam as you have - and yet are such dreadful drivers as you wouldn't believe. If they can pass the test, then you've nothing to fear. . honestly, you don't. But you need to show that you can press that brake pedal at a moment's notice - and not just when the examiner says so. Be ready at all times for these pricks. They're everywhere. Be decisive. Take control. We need more good drivers on the road! I hope you pass.

Chris; I cannot thank you enough. I watched every single video that you've uploaded, so many times. I passed my theory 2 years ago (today) & basically I was with the 'wrong' driving instructor for more than a year. I was never at ease with him and he would cancel so many lessons at the last minute. In the year and a half I was driving with him he never once showed me a single manoeuvre and basically was coming across as saying that I wouldn't be ready for the practical test by the time my theory expired. I got my act together in November after he cancelled a lesson yet again. I found a new instructor - an absolute gem of a person. I'm happy to say that I passed my practical test today with 3 minors. Such a relief. I think the main thing is just to have a positive mind and if you're not happy with your driving instructor - it's ok to ditch them!

I wanted to say Thank You. Your videos have been so helpful for me. This video in particular...and I was even using the 'Pulling up on the left reference'...which I had never tried before but came so useful on my test, as my examiner was rushing me. She wouldn't wait for me to stop the car before saying 'move off when you are ready' which made me even more nervous. But luckily I passed with 3 miner faults. Thank you again for your amazing videos.

Thank you Chris for your great videos. Happy to tell you that I passed first time and I have to give credit to your channel. Fantastic demos with views from different angles, clear explanations, what-ifs in the end, and the pace and tone of your calming voice are some of the highlights of your channel. Your videos on driving tests, clutch control, sat-nav, roundabouts were very useful in preparing for my test and I have watched them several times. Mock videos really helped in preparing mentally for the exam, understanding what to expect and it also increased my confidence! I did 20 private lessons and my instructor always made me feel nervous and incompetent (It was a gimmick to sign up for more lessons). So a big thank you for helping me along this journey in learning how to drive and be a safe driver.

Hello, Chris! I normally never leave comments on KZread but I couldn`t skip this one. I am from foreign country and it wasn`t easy for me in the beginning even keep left side of the road ))))) I don`t have my own car (yet) so lately I was able to practice once in 2 weeks with my instructor. 2 unsuccessful tests really let me down. Today I passed! And the only thing what changed compare to my other tests was watching your channel. I committed to watch your videos at least 15 mins every single day and it worked! Now I am much more confident and calm driver and really know what I`m doing. Can`t thank you enough! 🤗

I failed my test (April, 2016) with 2 minor and one serious mistake at a mini roundabout :( I took a chance at a gap, and I saw the other driver was behind the waiting line, but as I entered, the other driver speed into the roundabout and honk. So I got failed for that. And now I am facing my next test in July. And practising more roundabouts and driving in all purpose roads. Your videos have helps me lot. Thank you.

It covers every little detail and for someone like me who has years of experience of driving in Asia, but very little of the UK, the roundabouts actually got me immobile at times. Examiners have failed pupils on tests just for just going slightly on the painted bit of the mini roundabout. So beware you need to go around the mini roundabout when going ahead or right. 5 golden rules when observing traffic at roundabouts. 1. Look early for gap or its clear 2. Look for blockers ie traffic coming from ahead which is going to block traffic to your right. 3. Get your timing just right so don't move when other drivers are moving. Or are on the roundabout 4. Giveway to traffic to you right 5. If in doubt wait don't rush look for a better opportunity. Approved Driving instructor Good video no substitute for practice

So I had my first manual driving lesson today. As soon as I sat in the car I knew exactly how to drive and I didn't stall once throughout the whole 2 hours and I was so good at everything, I tried the all manoeuvres and they all went well. It obviously does need more practice but the only reason I done that well today was because of you. I watched nearly all your videos before my first lesson and honestly YOU taught me how to drive, so thank you! Keep up the amazing work. Your a star. Can't wait to pass and start driving!!!

🌟 Subscribe for our latest videos 🙂 This video is only a rough guide. It is your responsibility to drive legally and safely. Only go onto roundabouts when it's safe and you feel comfortable. It's highly recommended that you take professional driving lessons with a driving instructor. This video shows an experienced driving instructor. Don't forget to check your mirrors then signal to exit the roundabout when passing the exit before the one you want.
