    Adding to this, I did a street stock race, did "meh" decided to look around for tips, found this video, and next race I ran, I was running 2nd within a second of the leader for most of the race and ended up actually winning it when they had issues dealing with a lapped car. Having the vast majority of my races being road and then followed up by oval, this dirt stuff is a whole new world for me. Thanks for the video!

    Atomic speedway is a great place high banked half mile in Chillicothe Ohio. Eldora speedway is a must at some point for either the kings royal sprint car race or the world 100 late model race. I also really like moler raceway park near Mount orab ohio which is a 1/4th mile bullring

    Great video, a lot of good tips! I'd like to clarify something though because I'm not seeing really anyone else mention it. The way you talk about setting the car is not the same as a Scandinavian Flick. I think a better way to talk about it is "pitching the car in". The Scandi Flick results in a similar effect to setting the car, of getting it sideways, but is totally different in approach. A real Scandi Flick involves turning the car away from the corner very quickly, and then snapping the wheel back towards the corner to turn it in before counter steering to hold the slide. This method is used to very quickly rotate the rear of the car as it puts a lot of weight transfer energy into the car. This method can work in dirt oval in the experience that I have, but the cars are not set up to drive this way.

    Picked video because I was interested in something post season. The video content is true to real life. Thing is you don't get to choose what the track is like when you unload the car. Dry slick is a challenge. I hear the rubber just screeching off my tires. I shredded mine in the last race of the year (why not, ya know). I might try this sim out. It doesn't look like this has ruts in it. A real pucker factor is hitting a rut at speed in a turn.

  • @fabi57iamracer

    If the the track is solid rubbed tacky the drive is almost like on pavement, no sideways needed for speed.

    I have about 80 races under my belt, and actually picked up a little info from this. Especially at Eldora. That track gives me fits, and I paid close attention to your line. During our little offseason in December, I plan on practicing using the brake more entering the corners so I can go in a little hotter, and also using brakes when needed throughout the corners. Right now, this does not come naturally to me, and have a tendency to screw it up. Also need to work on the lowest line. I usually end up running the safest line once things string out, and that does not help me catch anyone.

    As a former dirt track race you NEVER tail whip your car. It disrupsts the suspension and bite. You use steering and throttle to enter and exit a corner percisely.

  • @williammaine5254

    @williammaine5254
