Here are some anatomy things i learned The upperarm(not including the shoulder stuff) and forearm should be roughly the same length the head should generally be able to fit in the torso the shoulders should roughly be able to fit two heads the foot has the same length as the forearm take these with a grain of salt since these are not really perfectly accurate and of course there are different body types that disobey these but I generally use them when I draw please feel free to correct me if I made a mistake here, I am still learning, afterall edit: Someone reminded me(thank you), foreshortening exists, basically, it's perspective when something looks bigger the closer it is to the viewer, this also makes some of the parts invisible or shorter, so take those in mind too. Remember that these are just general proportion guides, so if you want to use foreshortening, you can simply try to imagine the body parts I talk about as a 3d object and rotate them in your mind, not easy I know, but you can do it. Don't be afraid to use references, it's not cheating. You can also trace other's artwork, that's totally fine as long as you don't post it as your own. Let's all learn together and have fun in our journey and help each other when we need it.

This is great actually. The thing is though, when forshorthening enters, this might greatly change. Some might not be the same length as before depending on how forshorthened it is. I usually liked the cranium as a basis of measurement. But yours also very useful.

This is what i'm struggling the most right next to perspective. I'm always afraid that it's too late to start again but let me tell you- its never too late to learn

Problem is that a static pose is not always appealing. So, if one were to create a scene with a character they would need to understand basic anatomy, perspective, foreshortening rules and how to draw a 3D shape. Your videos are always helpful. Thank you!

The problem with the 7-8 heads measurement is, it only applies in a very stiff pose and angle. If you want to draw anything that's at least mildly interesting, any even the tiniest deviation from standing still and being looked at from straight ahead, throws out all of those heads out the window. Why bother with it at all?

  • @Idk20061

as a beginer , it might be more dificult to get the proportions right , so to begin with this and build visual memory of how aproximatively big the head is compared to the rest of the body might help thought once you get the hang of it , it should be droped since it takes lot of time this rule can be aplied even in difrent poses and perspective but also need to think of puting those line also into perspective so more to husle
