very helpful, Im fairly new, so still trying to learn your technique....Thank you
Again, this “how to” is as all your tutorials very helpful to me. I am 72 and dedicated to improving and perfecting my drawing (and painting) skill. I really like your attitude toward the work, and your explanations are clear and helpful. I sometimes don’t get how you’re placing the lines you draw in the second phase, and the third phase-once the initial soft lines are laid down I am not exactly clear where the lines are laid down using the darker leads. This is not to say I don’t get it, or I don’t benefit, I do...but, I would like to see the CLOSE UP shot of the pencil point going slow-motion giving a bit of the video in 5x or 10x magnification. Not a lot of this, just a insertion here and there like a loupe in a graphics program. NOW: THE REAL COMMENT: YOU ARE THE BEST. Keep going. Let us viewers know what we can do to enhance your work so we can all grow together in the same direction. Maybe this is an old man way of thinking, but I’m thinking a lot of your viewers would love to contribute to your process. Thanks for putting the instruments used. I’m still looking for a pencil/pen roll-up holder like the one you roll out. Your patience is spectacular. -Glenn

Thanks for the comment Glenn and taking the time to give feedback, I get what you mean. I agree with the contribution of the audience, It’s really only early days for this channel. The vlogumentations are going to be a big part too.

Hi Glenn, I know you commented a while ago, but I figured I might be able to help you out a little bit. In the bottom right corner of KZread videos there are several little icons (each one tells you what it's for when you hover your mouse over it), one of them can set your screen to fullscreen, that will fill your monitor with the video. To get out of full screen, just push the escape button, or click the fullscreen icon a second time. There is another icon shaped like a gear, labeled settings. There you'll find a setting for speed, you can slow down or speed up any video you'd like, and set it back to normal speed again. Hope these tips are helpful to you. Have fun drawing!

Ow you go girl!
I love the details in the tree one
I am not good at art, so I found this to draw some plant textures for an 8th-grade school assignment, and as mindblowing as this was, I can't draw these. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that someone could draw this.
I keep coming back to this video. Not just for every time I do grass/leaves etc., But multiple times during one artwork. Such a great guideline. Thanks so much!
Damn the music is soooo chill makes me feel like I have all the time in the world (which is what it takes me to draw :P), to me that's the biggest obstacle from when I was young, at the age I am now (41), it feels like I'm running out of time to 'start learning' how to draw, or how to speak a language or anything else, but in reality, the process has ALWAYS been the same, at every age, with more or less different kind of stress at every given time, perception was more or less different because I wouldn't pay the same attention to my 'outer world' as my parents would take care of some details such as making food, laundry, earning my living and all, but in the end, the learning process is about the same every time, and it is about taking the time to do things 'the right way', to properly 'EXPLORE' the subject I am studying, to learn it's rules, what defines it and not, to grasp the 'perception' of the study, how 'to see' things in a drawing manner, how to think perceived things in russian language, how to conceive things in Java or Actionscript, how to approach my wood material or my rock material, how to intimately and intuitively 'feel' with the brain what it is that you 'see' with your fingers, with your ears, with your eyes, with your 'inner eye', the way the world is conceptualized inside of you, it's a redefining concept every step in the learning process XD Thanks for sharing ! =]
One word: AMAZING
Thanks Dan. Still learning the basics and the way you laid it out is super helpful.
Omg. Its really good.
I’m loving the real time at the end of the videos! Please that up it really does help. I still don’t understand how you can draw as small as you do it’s awesome.
Love your art lessons! Always so clear and understandable! Your videos are awesome and the real time with times to look at specific parts, very helpful. Thanks for your time and patience to help us all out!

Great as usual. I do landscapes a lot and would love to see how you do smoke and fog and snow/rain falling.
Great video very informative... Thanks sir I'm looking forward for more... Great job🤓😊
Thank you for sharing it is useful information
Interesting details.
Thank you for this video Dan, I really enjoyed it! I drew along with the tutorial part of the video to practice, and then I watched the added real-time footage afterwards which helped pinpoint my flaws. Basically, my textures lack in precision and depth. I tend to slip into 'flat' thinking and then the texture turn more into something like a wallpaper. Perhaps my observations of what I need to do to improve can be useful to someone else, so here they are: - Aim for the highest precision possible, by being more mindful of each line, where it starts and ends. It also requires the ever-sharp pencils. I am gradually getting better at this =) - Utilize the full dynamic range of the pencils by varying the applied pressure more. As a musician, I will try to remember this by relating it in terms of loudness, from barely audible to almost deafening sounds. - Visualize or feel more the 3-dimensionality of what is being drawn. - Patience, patience, practice and more patience =D
That was beautiful thanks for the tip
A new subsciber and im addicted. You are truly brilliant. Thanks for sharing
It's is very helpful I just completed the first video, I'm going to work on this one today! Your awesome Dan! I'll post themn on Instagram to show
AMAZING!!!!!!
sir you are best artist
Cool! Thanks!
I’ve always struggled with drawing grass.. thanks for sharing your technique! Could you do a video demonstrating how to recreate hair/fur textures? That’d be extremely helpful!
Excellent
thx for the real time footage
thank you 👍👍
4months ago I watched this. Today I'm seeing this video in different way. Coming back again +again really helps, I find. (Your videos, Dan, have made all the difference in my drawing development). "Taking a step back" → one of your most important tips ! _________ Also, if I take a photo of a drawing, just when I think I've finished, is very helpful to me. On the photo I see flaws I didn't notice on the paper in front of me ...
thx dude for the tips ! thats really usefull
Thank you, my daughter & I enjoyed it. I am an artist but my skills are rusty as I am also a writer. I do my trees just a little different. It's good to see how different grades of pencils make the textures etc.
Awesome video man
you inspire me so much

THANKS
Yeah, we all know this is tedious, but as you said, very worthwhile if you want to add realism to your landscapes. Thank you so much. I am tackling dry grass like a vineyard, and a rounded hill in the background with what appears to be short grass.
You're pretty amazing!
Great.... 👌
Thanks for these videos. It's really good info. Up until now I've only been using average pencils that I get at my local Dollar General store.
NIce!
yess thank you!! i really need this hahahha
U r awesome 👍
Nice!
Great Tutorial was very helpful. Thanks Was wondering however, how to draw Moss and other organics that strive in moist environments and drawing these textures in perspective? Including grass and other textures.
I would love to see a video on drawing birds in your style with texture.
Nice
Damn, you're good 😁👍
Thanks for this ( sorry I’m late ) but this has been useful!
Привет! Отличные видео, благодаря им я научился отлично рисовать, спасибо тебе, я очень благодарен! 💗
when you use your 2H pencil to make the first layer of pencil marks, do you press hard or do you still lightly draw the marks
How about.....smoke?

cant believe my teacher just sent us this vid and told us to replicate it
@heythere8318
3 жыл бұрын
Ha yes he has a LOT of talent but I’m not always very good at replicating things unless I’m given exact instructions for some reason because that’s just how my brain works so it’s definitely a challenge. He still has helped me learn to improve, even though I will likely not get to that point to be able to draw it that well.
try to draw this texture thinking that you had a time limit. How would you do it? would you exclude some types of pencil to get there in time?
