Sometimes its really hard to go back to a sketch I love that I want to color because either im scared to ruin it or burn out on it half way (especially big colored pencil pieces that take HOURS/days) or it's been put off so long that it's now an old sketch and I feel like i can do better

Colored pencil illustrations take SO LONG!!! But I love them so... and am always terrified of ruining them lol

I can relate to not wanting to ruin a sketch/drawing, but still wanting to color it. Something that I do is that I'll trace the drawing onto tracing paper and then transfer it onto a blank sheet of paper and color it there. It can be time consuming depending on the complexity of the drawing, but that's my usual method. If the sketch is mostly clean and all I'd like to do is color, sometimes I'll just photocopy it and color the copy. Or sometimes I'll just take a good picture or digital scan of the original, to have as backup in case something goes wrong. As for burn out or lack of motivation half way, sometimes I try to just finish it all in one sitting but, that's not always possible for me or sustainable 😂 I still have some unfinished drawings from yeeears ago that I hope to finish some day, God-willing. Hope this helps!

Personally i ONLY draw in my current sketchbook. Drawing on anything else, even if it's another sketchbook somehow just feels wrong 😂 thank you gor this, it was fun to watch.

I’m just starting in art. I did it in middle and high school of course. But now I want to get better and maybe open a sticker shop in the future. I’ve been practicing everyday since I’ve ordered my stench book. I made that promise to myself. So within a years time I’ll be better. Thnx for the video.

(Tips) from the first half of the video (I just look over the prompts, I'm so sorry!): Why you should draw more: 1. Drawing more builds muscle memory. 2. Drawing more makes it less stressful. 3.Quantity leads to quality.
Thanks for the shout out 😭😭 p.s. Marley with the hair tie in 😂😂
Amazing tips, thank you queen!
This was a very helpful video! Thank you so much for this !
Love your videos, it really helped me
Hi!! Thank you souch for making this video!! I totally can relate with the not feeling motivated to draw thing the most, because I feel like whenever I want to draw, my body just doesn't feel like it. Now that I think about it, maybe I was just afraid to make bad drawings... So thank you so much for this AMAZING VIDEO!!!❤️ I SUBSCRIBED right away after watching your videos. Keep up the amazing work!! ❤️
I just took up drawing/painting as a hobby again 😊 this is exactly the kind of advice I needed, thank you so much for the template!
Lol I can’t even tell you how many school doodles and stuff I have. I had an extra notebook one year and filled the entire thing with doodles 😂
Thanks for this Erika! So helpful and motivating!
This was so helpful!! Thank you!
LOVE this vid. I've found that in order for me to get back into it, I just start with things that I already know I like to draw. I love working on texture studies. This has never failed me in jumpstarting my sketching muscles. Start with what you already know you love and let yourself go!
I literally find myself drawing a lot when I’m at work and I doodle on little pieces of paper sheets I find lying around. Then I come home to draw I’m like nah I’m good
everything u have said in this video is exactly wt iam going through. Thanks for motivating
i haven’t drawn a something in a year. literally. i wish i had this video back then. i am getting back into art, and my style is so different now. thank you to all those art youtubers! 💖💖💖

I love your art! Thanks for the tip!!
Been having pretty bad art block lately and painted for the first time in a long time yesterdau. I want to sketch out ideas for more paintings. I'm glad I found this video.
Thank you for doing videos like this its soo helpful 🙏
as someone who left art for a whole year, this is really helpful and I'm trying to get back into art :)
I actually started watching this because I like your voice and positivity... but still heard some nice tips and another perspective!
Thanks for this awesome video. It’s inspiring and very helpful. 😀
I am ready to follow the template in ur patreon! Thank you this video was informative like always!!!!!
Erika, you communicate so well and express ideas so everyone is able to understand what your talking about, the concepts are basic and necessary for growth! I used to have a routine for drawing every day. I have semi-retired and just do what I feel like doing, my wife does ask “why don’t you post that on your Instagram?” I do suffer from the “It is not good enough for the public“! So I get what you are saying. I know we all need to keep practicing if we want to keep a good “fist” muscle memory is a much better term/idea! Please keep creating these amazing videos and remember to take time for YOU! Ah . . . Your hair is looking quite lovely, I like the ombré! Now you will have to re-do your splash screen avatar to match! Take care and be safe!
This is a great video, and I can’t wait to print off and use the inspiration template! I love my sketchbook, and it’s with me almost 24/7. I try to draw in it at least once a day, but as all you artists know, it’s difficult to keep this up. Last week, my family suffered a loss, and you know what? I filled about 20 pages in 3 days. I used drawing as a coping mechanism, and it was really helpful. I think the hardest part is getting over the fear of making mistakes, but I was in such a sad place that I didn’t care about the fear, and just drew things to cheer myself up. After all, what’s the point of doing something if it doesn’t make you happy? Thank you for another wonderful video 💖
I so needed to watch this video. Thank you 🌟👐
This is such a useful video omg u really helped me , when I make a bad drawing I feel so sad and dont draw for a day ;--;
I just watched your video today. And I love your hair!
Thank you so much! I am sure this will help me to stop art-procastinating, so I can improve a lot!
Omg you're the bestttt! Thanks for the amazing video it helped a LOT
Good advice! I try to draw every day and push myself even if I don't feel like it.
For me having something to draw with always at hand helps with keeping a habit. On my desk, in my bag, in between my calendar next to where I usually sit in the living room etc.
I just want to say thank you you really inspiring and a great artist thank you tons!
I immediately feel like subscribing because of those sly cooper drawings cause that game is 10/10 amazing and your art looks SOOO good
SHE LOOKS SO PRETTY THOUGH
I love the way you draw expressions!
I feel like I burnt myself out, I just worked a ton on my comic and now I just don't want to draw anymore haha..
The last time I drew in my sketchbook was.. six months ago😂😂 I feel that
Great video. Very motivational! Thank you.. I am getting my sketchbook out right now :-)
Great advice! Thank you
this is great! also PLEASE make a fun inktober promptlist 😍
Thank you so much for offering the template for free!
I needed to see this - I really did. I don't have a sketchbook, but I do have printer paper and probably a spare binder around! I do have the tools to draw digitally as well, I just need to get more chargers so that I can keep them charged while keeping all of my other devices that use the same charger charged up because part of the reason I don't draw digitally as often as i want is because my iPad is usually always dead xD
Omg the sly cooper sketches!! 🥰😍
Wow U really inspired me Ur good thanks 💜 I'll try to keep up school is like keeping me away from Drawing
Your videos have been helping me a lot. Thank you
I just got a new sketchbook and then I saw this video. What a convensidence!
Great Tips
Thanks
I've been drawing diligently for about a month now and its safe to say that I have improved quite a bit. At first I would sweat just to get going and erase till the page starts to rip lol. Now getting started is way easier and I embrace my mistakes so instead of a pencil I draw with my microns. I definitely get stuck at a drawing. Just today I ended up spending my entire day on a simple sketch lol.
Omg tysm! I need to learn how to draw more if I want to make my own comic one day haha 😂 Hope this video helps people who have the same problems as me lol 😂 -Small Art youtuber
i like practicing relaxed poses, it’s like when you actually make a relaxed pose it relaxes my own self
this came up on my lunch class in online school ty girly
You are the best💖
I think these are great ideas!
Now someone will tell me the importance of a sketch book!!🤗
So beautiful 👍
Everything you said that's how I felt long time but now it's different because I have a newborn child so I'm trying my best to separate the time so I can have time for her and time for my drawings and time for my school and time for my work it's a lot of things but I'm going to do my best and try everything I can to learn and to process my artwork I want to thank you you giving me that advice tip and tricks because it's helping me a lot and I want to thank you that please try to make more videos for I could keep going and motivate myself with the words you say not only you but other artists too I follow because I want to learn new things everyday. At the same time I want my daughter to be proud of me when she's big

Why is your hair so gOD DAMN COOL
Erika I love your personality and your art. I like your hair by the way, when did you dye your hair? I like the brown and pink it meshes well together.

ahh thank you! 🙈 I started dying it in 2019! I get it lightened about once a year and use pink conditioner every other day to maintain the color!

‘tis the season of art block
Noooo I’m late :( But this is still very helpful! Ty!
Tip! If you absolutely have no idea what to draw or are just lazy to think of something, use a Random Word Generator (you can go on google, search it up, and you can find one). You could connect the words with different words and make the drawing completely different from the given word. Example: Word: Subject Subject > School > Studying > Reading > Book > Library Idea: Person by a window, in the library, reading a book "Subject" is very different from the idea^ Another tip is to play with different angles and learn & study from there
I just got my drawing tablet, and its good to sketch, I dont have to worr about my suplies running out
2:30 oMG SLY COOPER AAA
for artists working on large projects: id suggest that you make a pact with yourself in spirit to mine; to work on it by bedtime. could be a line, could be half the damn piece. just work at least a single pencil point.
Hi erika! Thanks for the vid. I've been wanting to know how to do this. I just don't feel like drawing everyday. It's like I draw a day then the next day I don't wanna. As soon as I sit down for it I don't mind doing it. Thanks!

if i draw everyday i think i would lose my little skill to draw
youre so pretty wow
When i want to draw a good idea or do a fanart I start sketching but I always give up because I suck at anatomy :)
I want to draw more digital/traditional art, but always have school work to do and feel discouraged when I have to time to draw
8:18 B u n n y i n a c a r r o t b a t h For some reason when i cant think of anything to draw i draw a bunny in a carrot bath i have wayyy to many sketches of bunnys in bathtubs lmao
A random tip for drawing more I have is to draw with something colorful like a colored pencil or a water color pencil. It makes sketching way more enjoyable cause it isn’t just pencil led grey. I prefer crayola colored pencils cause they aren’t expensive but you do you
Ok so I had this *pain*ting, and I threw it away ever since this girl in my old school told me it was ‘good’ then went over to someone else who did a similar painting and complimented sO much more- it made me feel like my sketch was bad and i Didnt want to draw at all lmao.
*Where is my 2nd appointment for my art therapy*
Good
I’ve been through stages: 1. drawing absolute nothing as if I quit. I was frustrated that I couldn’t find an art style. Although people see my art and say it looks so “me” but I just don’t see it. I felt that my art sucks. Why should I draw when all my works comes out like shit? ( ‘
Casually just stops doing school work and watches this video :,)
Your art style is very similar to DrawingWiffWaffles' and I love iiit. (I hope it's not rude to compare artists, I have no idea, lol) New sub! :D
I am trying get back into drawing again but
Man I relate so hard to the bad drawing mentality ugh
I can't find the template thingy
