How To Draw Celtic Patterns 182 - Triskele of Amfreville - 2 of 3

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this segment use a large round coin to construct equal circles. The layout of the circles will overlap and intersect in a specific way. This will form the template of the Triskeles path. It is likely that the goldsmith who constructed the design on the Amfreville helmet used either a compass or the flat end of a cylinder to lay out an equal design. This video shows the arms spiralling in a counter clockwise method.

Hi Jason, I just started to burn this design into a leather piece that will be going on a bag that I 'm making for one of my daughter-in-law's. I'm so looking forward to seeing you and your family in Goderich 2022. You're as inspiring as ever for me. Thanks for all your hard work and sharing this with us. Patti

I personally can't wait to see you and Ron! I can close my eyes and I'm in the booth at a show and I can hear Ron's saw going! That and his laugh!

I took four attempts before I got this right. Then I transferred it to leather. Haven't carved it yet, but I will soon. Thanks for teaching! Great channel!

I'm glad you like it. It's a different pattern in its construction. I'm certain the mother of invention for this artist was what was available. Not everyone uses a compass especially on the thin gold foil. Please send a post of your leather work when it's done ok.

I did this again, but with a compass. I wanted it bigger than the diameter of my nickel, for a larger design for transfer to my leather project. The first one I made with the coin was too small. This new one is much bigger! The compass and the coin make perfect circles, but I just guesstimated all the other measurements like Bruce does in the video. The imperfect makes it look funky and ancient as the Amfreville helmet.

Thank you so much for making this video... it would have taken me days or weeks even to work this out for myself! It's a truly beautiful design.

For the 4th video or rather the one in 2 weeks will be how to space the Triskeles as the goldsmith did along the helmet. That’s taken me a while to figure out!

@@TheCelticGoldsmith right video 3 of 3... I noticed in the thumbnail for 1 of 3 you had the triskele is going both left like they are in this video and right. Is there any significance to whether they're going left or right?

You should do a series of videos about the art on the Trossingen lyre - a recent archaeological discovery of a complete 6th century Germanic warrior lyre embellished with dragons and knot motifs.
