Very helpful video! I’m a complete novice, but love to try and draw portraits. I bounce around to different areas of the face like you, and then focus on the eyes-the most difficult part.

You can do it! Takes a lot of practice though. I plan to do a bunch more videos with portraits. More to come.

ya know, i've tried drawing for like years. Drawing is one of those skills I believe I can not grasp. I will never grasp, it will take decades upon decades of learning. So, why would I? I won't see progress. Even more, I *want* to draw, but I can't. I do not have the interest enough. I will always hit the point of: "I'm done, I will go back to something that actually I can kind of do.". I am convinced that if I tried maybe 7 years ago, i'd be somewhat competent. But of course not. When I was 9 or 12, something like that, I could hardly draw simple squares representing a person, and gave up. So, I don't know what to do and am pretty much asking for advice.

To be honest, I'm not sure what advice to give when you already have your mind made up that you will never grasp it, won't see progress, say you can't do it, and lack the interest to draw. If I said the same thing about learning piano or something like that, I'm not sure what advice a piano teacher could give to help me. The student has to have the interest and the will to want to do it, otherwise I don't think there's any stronger advice or motivation that will ultimately keep them going. Anytime they struggle, they'll fall back to their negative thoughts and the motivation wears off. I would suggest having a goal or some kind of purpose - something you can fall back on - to keep you going through the struggle of learning to draw. I'm not sure what else I can suggest at this moment.
