In this tutorial, I'll show how to draw a Golden Retriever in pastels. I'll be sharing my thoughts on how the Clairefontaine PaintON mix media paper compares to Pastelmat paper. How to draw realistic fur relies on many different factors and the paper is so important.
I'm often asked whether there is a paper artists who are new to pastels can try to get a feel for the medium but still achieve a nice level of photo realism... Maybe this could be the one? This is my second drawing on this new paper and the first time I am using PanPastels with it. When I did the kitten drawing on this paper, I just used pastel pencils so it's been interesting to see just how this PaintON paper compares to Pastelmat. Have you used this paper before? I'd love to hear in the comments below.
