it's literally any size... you just won't be able to go beyond the first circle with 6 other ones circumscribed, so you need to plan based on the size of paper you're using. the circles can be any size, i feel like this question must be a joke. but he's using a grid mat under the paper, maybe assume those are 1cm squares? so maybe 20-22 cm?

hey! thank you for posting this! any tips for using the compass so that the radius doesn't change? mine keeps changing when i use it and i feel like there's gotta be a better way to hold it so that it doesn't change. you make it look super swift and easy haha

That's the editing, of course :) Just hold it with your thumb and index finger at the top of your compass. If it still moves, maybe you need another compass. I use this one (link below). Just make sure to buy a metal one. Less flimsy and therefore more accurate.
