Nice Explanation, Please Zoom in your screen while recording and you were using photoshop for stacking?

Thanks for the tip! I will try zooming in next time. About stacking: You don't have to stack any of the JWST data as the files you download are already stacked by NASA.

The data from JWST you download is monochrome. So black and white. You can create colour by combining multiple monochrome image. As I do at: 5:50 Hope this helps.

Hi there. Could you explain why you download six filters but only use three in Siril?

  • @stefan_astro

Great question! So basically if you wanted to use the other 3 filters in the image you would have to take some extra steps. For example combining them using pixelmath. I thought I wouldn't go through this cause it makes the video more complicated than it already is. Hope that explains it. If you have further questions please feel free to ask!

Great video but i have a problem. After finishing all process properly final image is shown black. i have no photoshop but have ERDAS IMAGINE. what is the problem?

I have no previous experience with ERDAS, however a possible cause for your problem could be that you saved the final image in 32 bits instead of 16. Which results in a dark image

Hello Stefan, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to create some torrent files for the data the scripts downloaded, it seems the host is down and i am unable to get them i want to download all the raw data in chunks script by script, then reshare it from my home server so other people can get it that way as the MAST site is a bit slow and unwieldy...

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean by torrent files. Also I already deleted the data the script downloaded as it took up too much space on my computer. Great initiative tho! And thank you for commenting.

Great vid, but I can't replicate the Register process : I don't have any of the options after "Registration Layer", it asks me to select an area in the images to register and when I click on the "Go register" button, the console returns the error : "Starting element number less than 1" just before crashing. Do you have any idea how to fix it ?

  • @stefan_astro

That's very strange. I sadly have no clue what could be causing it. I also don't understand why it asks you to select an area. Hope you find a fix tho!

@@stefan_astro I did two things : - first I reinstalled SiriL (wanted to have a reason to do it but I was just hopeless) - second I selected a smaller area when registering (about 1/40th of the total image size) and it worked ! sadly I did the two things simultaneously, so I can't really tell you what did the trick. I'm really glad it finally worked, thank you a lot for the video, again !
