Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1:11 A) they aren't really cooldowns, as starting a climb isn't restricted by *timing* at all. B) They aren't separate, if they were, you could do the opposite, where you climb up and then try to climb across, but you can't so they are not separate. C) The actual reasons it works this way are a little more complicated, I have some ideas based on CVARS to explain it, but I haven't done any testing on them to see if they actually hold up.

Fun fact, the side wall climb is how yukaF achieves his seemingly insane wall jumps around anything, because you are set into the climb motion and you can basically walljump from anypoint of the wall and add tapstrafes as you see fit The trick is to press either D or A depending on your approach and press the opposite when doing a wall jump to fly over the obstacle

Update: just used it to scale one of those long houses in world's edge lol this is the fastest I've gone from learning something to successfully using it in game of any tech

Tbh, I've been trying this kind of things a lot the other day, because after re-watching your video on u-bounces, I can only do them very rarely. I think there's some extra subtlety about the timing that I haven't understood yet. To be precise, most of the time, when I try to transition to the jump at the end of the climb, it barely does little more than a fall, and I can't airstrafe to the side. Not sure yet why, but once in a while I do succeed though.

You can get on that box with a normal climb into climbing the box aka climbing two different surfaces.. But damn, thanks for teaching me this.. A movement tech I think I can actually master with my two braincells.

It’s very hard with 360 degrees of motion to only have a sideways input. Some Xbox elite controllers allow you to bind side inputs to paddles

Wallrunning is a little harder because of the 360 degrees of motion, if you have any degree of forward input, you’re not wallrunning. Still very possible though
