Donald Trump's Debates: 5 Mental Tricks You Didn't Notice
Donald Trump has proven himself to be a master persuader. His unlikely rise to prominence in the Republican primaries has riden on the fact that he knows how to work the media during interviews as well as his performances in the GOP debates against the likes of Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz.
When watching the debates, many of his detractors criticize Trump's apparent lack of substance. For instance, he ducked Megyn Kelly's question about sexism with a joke about Rosie O'Donnell. He seems to repeat buzz words more than other candidates and often justifies his positions by referring to other people who support his stances, rather than defending them outright. While this may seem like weak arguments, Donald Trump's debate strategies actually align perfectly with the way humans think and process information. For that reason, Trump's arguments tend to sink in more than his opponent's (like Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz) do.
In this video we'll look at the top 5 relatively unknown psychological truths that Trump exploits to get his point across during interviews and debates.

    -Most studies find little to no wage effect from illegal immigration, and a small but significant reduction in the price of goods. We should spend spend hundreds of of millions of dollars deporting immigrants tho (cdm15738.contentdm.oclc.org/utils/getfile/collection/p15738coll2/id/128872/filename/129083.pdf) -Cheap imports increase the spending power of low income households by around 62%. Tariffs however are a very expensive, regressively funded jobs programme which also damage our industries (whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/docs/cea_trade_report_final_non-embargoed_v2.pdf) -Trump's tax plan would add $24.5 trillion to the debt unless he makes dramatic cuts in spending. But he wants to increase spending on the military and make war overseas (taxpolicycenter.org/UploadedPDF/2000560-an-analysis-of-donald-trumps-tax-plan.pdf)

  • @Azoonaloc13

    @Azoonaloc13

    8 жыл бұрын

    w.s.x.d.r Yeah, because the whitehouse.gov is a highly reliable source. It doesn't matter if you increase spending power when consumer expenditure is going overseas. If you honestly think Illegal immigration is justified by economic gains, then you are a moron. The problem is mainly social, and the only evidence you need of this is the European Migrant Crisis. If we allow Illegal Immigration to get out of control, then it will have economic and social consequences. A country is not a country without borders, simple as that. Nowhere in your document does it say that Trump's tax plan will add 24.5 million to the national debt. Really, you need to read your own damn document.

  • @Kimberly-rw1mj

    @Kimberly-rw1mj

    8 жыл бұрын

    Azoonaloc13 Of course increasing spending power is a good thing. It means people can buy more stuff. Cheap imports are a blessing to the poor The $24.5 trillion figure is how much spending he would need to cut to balance the budget. We have to get rid of Obama's deficit too. (thefiscaltimes.com/2015/12/23/Trump-s-Tax-Cuts-Would-Add-245-Trillion-Debt) As for social consequences of immigration, there's little evidence of high crime. Some studies even show that immigrants do less crime than the native born. Fear of deportation might cancel out higher poverty rates. Europe is different- they have unemployed refugees living on welfare, we have migrants. As to things other than crime, I don't think we should deport people for speaking Spanish. Or anything like that

    +w.s.x.d.r These numbers are obserd. You can't say there is going to be more dept in the future because of a planned increase in expenditures. You have to factor in the deals we will do better in, all of the new tariffs we will impose on other countrys, and the amount of returning jobs to our country. Those factors make the realality of raising the united states expenditures plausible. Plus, I havnt even mentioned the tax reform Trump will put into affect, which most most people, arguably, will say his reforms is very liberal; it will take the tax burden off american citizens only for them to put more money back into out economy.

In fact, in view of this it's really just a hit piece on Trump.

    Inception is a movie................. When my wife try these tactics on my high school educated but common sense mind, I shut her down if that don't work I walk away and lose love and respect. Asking questions in different formats don't work, interrupting me don't work, raising her voice don't work. Everyone has the power to choose their own way of life..... Mine is to not interact or support her. I ask her did you interrupt your professor's in college she never answers that question. I ask her do you yell at your professor's or threaten them, she never answers that question, did she ask her professor's the same question but worded differently, she never answers........................ Bottom line, being deceptive is not positive, only corruptive. The corruptible should never hold any power over no one. Power of one.

    MALARKEY! Seriously though, Biden does have a fairly easy path to victory for the debates. Paint Trump as unserious, with no substantial arguments, and only interested in denigrating him. Then refuse to engage. Biden can stand there grinning and laugh at every attack while continuously pointing out that Trump is doing exactly what he said he would. Don't say anything substantial himself except to correct Trump, followed immediately by questioning his competence. Basically, just impose the frame that Trump is cheap entertainment with nothing substantial to add, and treat the entire experience with disdain. Trump loses lots of effectiveness with nothing to play off of, and Biden basically just says, "Are you sick of this crap yet?" This works because people already have an opinion of Biden, running from lukewarm positive to non-threatening, and this keeps the entire thing as a referendum on Trump. Just let Trump run his mouth and use any outlandish thing he says in attack ads. Trump would have all the time in the world to state any substantive point he wants, but he's not there to make substantive points. Just give him nothing to do and don't let him play to his strengths.

    +Charisma on Command The part about trump's tricks are that they're not actually tricks You are wrong about jeb not having any way to win I'll explain. For example. Lets say donald says what said. But there are two options you can do. You can actually start pointing out his lies and explain how they're lies, regardless of what donald is saying in return(basically ignore return comments), otherwise, donald wins by preventing you from speaking out against him by making you believe that interrupting him is somehow bad for your position(it's all about faith here and straw man). As long as you make the opponent believe he has lost, he will not fight to find out in reality if he lost or not. As long as you make your opponent believe what you are saying is right, the opponent will not want to comment on it even though what really happened there was that he just went away from the original topic, kinda like straw man. And jeb just decided not to speak out which in reality is beneficial for him instead of the former. Had jeb just continued pointing out his failures and lies, it wouldn't matter if donald was right about bush not apologizing or not because the lies are the bigger issue. A small victory doesn't overshadow the bigger. It's like saying that someone is disrespectful but the other guy point out how much of a liar the guy is. Once the people see the first guy as a liar, they will no longer think the second guy is disrepectful. Once people know the lies and tricks he's using, the entire debate has already been won as donald will lose credibility. Donald simply changed the subject(subtly) as if it's about moral qualities and alpha male character and defeated jeb at it. No he really did. But the problem is that this is a straw man. Instead of reacting/answering to jeb's comments specifically, he flipped it around and pointed out Jeb's faults instead at which point jeb kind of got embarrassed and make the biggest mistake by not continuing on the topic of donald being a liar as if to save face. OR he could've just waited till it's his turn, remember as much as possible what the first scrap was about and refute it on his terms. I think the first is the better option though. It's true donald used a trick, the thing is, it's not inescapable, or at least it's salvageable. There are bad decisions and there are worse. By continuing his original comment, even though he might face minor credibility issues as donald would turn out to be right about him, but at least he would finally get out the bigger picture and point out him being a liar at which point, once people see this, they will ignore that fact that jeb was disrespectful and accusative. The bigger issues, especially on politics, outweigh the smaller issues like how clam and composed a person is. Donald is wining not because he's so "rad" or because he's a good liar but because he silences people effectively. He is good a making the opponent believe he has worse moral qualities or that he lost the exchange(which really wasn't even on topic). I'm not saying donald isn't right necessarily. He could really be much better than Jeb at being president better in terms of morality than Jeb, Idk. His "tricks" are like a weapon, it can be used for good but also for evil. The thing is, it's now up to us to figure out for what purpose they were used. At this point I can only suggest listening to trump on all other places than just one debate. All I'm saying is, to be fair, Jeb could've still turned it a bit around. It's NOT like this comment is so defeating that there is not response to it, because I believe there is. Thanks for reading this far,haha, no really though.

    TLDR: How to persuade (and influence or even possibly manipulate) someone and how to recognize patterns of someone does this to you. USE WITH CAUTION. All POV will be when this is happening to you. 1. Double Bind This is where all options on a prompt will always benefit them. Saying nothing makes them win, keep saying something makes it look like you’re rude/hiding something and they win. The only way to get away with this is to create a new frame. 2. Simple Repetition Repeating key words gets you to remember those words as their or opposing side’s characteristics. This can go good for them and bad for you based on the intonation of the words. This is why companies have jingles. Repetition sticks well. The simplest ideas stick around the best, letting you grow better 3. Social Proof They have a statistic where other people agree with. You might not have even watched previous interviews or it may not be necessarily true. But saying something that other people agree with makes it feel like you’re not the only one Avoiding negative social proof also is key. Diverting and being defensive avoids attention on their criticisms. Having social proof from authority also shows that “smart people” support their side. 4. Persuasive Stories > Statistics and Huge Numbers Rational Evidence is hard to grasp. Emotional evidence makes it easier in a form of a story.

They have it down to a science and they do it in a way that WILL affect you, it's not a matter of intelligence. I'm not talking about every single advertising technique obviously, but think of something like a jingle. A jingle is made to be catchy because they want it to be seared into your brain. Whether you know that or not doesn't really affect the ability for a jingle to get seared into your brain, it will still happen.

    This most effective strategy is to out talk everyone and manipulate the conversation to speak in generalities so no one questions what you say. Oh yea realize people can be easily manipulated by bullcrap. We like a show. We like people who bully even when we know its wrong because we secretly want to get back at people. To counter keep asking for facts and what the person thinks. I always respond but what do you think? Stop telling me what someone else think. You can think for yourself? That will shut them up. Then be as rude as they are and when they complain, you said I'm showing people how badly you behave. Do you want ro have a serious discussion or just be rude? But this dude is telling the truth. It works until people wise up, but by then damage has been done.

    Something I think you missed is that Trump is a practitioner of Positive Thinking. Which includes Positive Speaking. Norman Vincent Peale, the author of The Power of Positive Thinking, actually presided over Trump and Ivana's wedding. Trump's "weird" way of speaking really all comes down to Positive Speaking/Thinking... and is something that is greatly overlooked.
