    Tried doing this today and although I was close, I wasn't consistent. And after watching this, I think my main issue are my arms. 🤣 They definitely weren't in the right positions. So I'll be trying this next week when I go again, and hopefully I'll manage to do it consistently!

    I can do this at a slow to semi-moderate speed. But, what is the trick to doing this while going a little fast in speed? I see people skate down the rink then turn to backwards and it impresses me. How do they not spin around while turning going fast?

  • @IceCoachOnline

    @IceCoachOnline

    The more you practice this move, the more comfortable you will get with it. It's about learning how to use your body to not only initiate the rotation but then control it once you've completed the turn! Doing this turn with speed requires control of the arms, hips and also the edges you're skating on. But with practice makes perfect!

    this might be a stupid question but on which part of the blade should i turn? also when trying to do a one foot 3 turn it always feels like my edge is too deep into the ice to actually smoothly turn.....

  • @IceCoachOnline

    @IceCoachOnline

    4 жыл бұрын

    Not a stupid question at all! If you're turning from forward to backward then the weight should be on the ball of the foot. If you're turning from backward to forward, then the weight should go towards the back of the blade. If you feel that you cannot turn smoothly as your edge is too deep into the ice, it's more likely that the issue is your weight is too much toward the middle/back of the blade as you're trying to turn to backward. As you go to turn your 3 turn, try to concentrate on moving your weight on the blade to the ball of your foot. This can be done when skating on very strong deep edges and still produce clean effortless turns. Hope this helps.

  • @IceCoachOnline

    @IceCoachOnline

    4 жыл бұрын

    It sounds like you are trying to use a curve to help you turn. The move is initiated by using the hips. You can try performing the move on the floor where you're not able to use a curve or edges and it might help you with the feeling of using arms and hips
