HOW TO DO A SCRATCH SPIN || OFF-ICE TRAINING | Coach Michelle Hong

Спорт

Welcome to my brand new off-ice training series called #SkateWithMichelle. The focus of this week is spin technique! Check out my Instagram for the official Skate With Michelle Calendar: / b-iut1opc6e
Today is all about the scratch spin technique. I am going to break down the 4 main steps of the scratch spin off the ice to help you ensure a fast and centered spin when you get back on the ice. The foundation of spins is so important to master before hopping onto a skate spinner. I recommend going through this video before doing spinner exercises. Let me know in the comment section below what your favorite part of today's "Skate With Michelle!" tutorial!
LET'S GET STRONG TO BECOME THE BEST SKATERS WE CAN BE!
Friendly Reminder: Please be careful when following along. If you never attempted certain elements displayed in the video, be sure to consult your figure skating coach before trying it for the first time.
Skating Love,
Coach Michelle

Nice steps to go into the scratch spin. With more practice, your basic scratch spin will become a powerful scratch spin.

Again, thank you so much!! Some skaters have complimented on my scratch spins. I've applied your technique in my every attempt. The initial attempts were really unstable, but the more I practiced, the more they've stabilised.

I skates for 14 years and competed for 6 of them with going through all of the basic levels all the way through freestyle 6. I wound up becoming too sick to skate any longer when I was at the height of my training & competition days. I am 27 now and too old to compete any more but my neice and my kids have been getting really into skating so I invested in a new pair of pro boots & blades and have been trying to re-teach myself. My biggest issue has been with my spins. I am having the hardest time finding my rocker and staying on it to spin in-interrupted without catching my toe pick. Do you have any suggestions on things I can do to practice how to stay on my rocker/ tips that could help me? I’d appreciate it!
