I haven't found an elaborate photography KZread channel as yours since I started looking. Your videos are clear, detailed and answer all the questions I have. Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm now excited to venture into photography, confident that your videos will guide me through it all. Is there a course/courses you can recommend one to take to learn about the right equipment/lenses to use for professional photography? I have a Canon M50 and sometimes clueless about what lens to get for quality pictures.

This is great news!! I got so tired of hearing all the photographers say niche down. You did highlight that you mostly do portrait photography, but you also show the other types of photography you are capable of. It makes more sense especially when starting out so you can get more clients. Encouraging and informative video thank you 😊 !!!

Yesss! I gave up on Instagram. I use it a lot but not trying to grow anymore. I use it just as a way to share my everyday life and some work. Also to connect with people. But trying to grow became a way of slavery in the platform. 😂

Laura, it's not weird thank you so much! Makes a lot of sense and I hope to travel soon. Can you do a video on pricing? Especially so many competition and pricing, for family, portraits, engagement, video 30-second commercials etc. For example, people don't factor in your software, editing time. I try to think how much I spent on my equipment, how muhc I want to make annually, monthly and from there figure out my hourly rate but not sure...how to stay firm when people ask for discounts. I am trying to build a 2nd career and also help small businesses struggling from pandemic but also need a profit. Thank you, Jay

And again Laura very good and informative video. Eshop in wp with woocomerce is so taff and it costs. I planned to build my shop but stopped. Time consuming. I don't like this platforms but when you want a shop too maybe it's the right way. I had my site minimal but changed it because I am more videography in weddings oriented and wanted a little more design. Not much but little more. I will go through your video again to check the points. It is good to have a newsletter subscription in your videos so when youtube brakes some day down you will have our contact data. Or to inform us about new videos, sales, workshops etc

Exactly! I love Squarespace because it has everything integrated and very customisable. I have now the shop where I sell digital products and I like to have the option of the newsletter. I want to build a community and be able to send interesting stuff to my subscribers as also discounts, free resources and more. It’s a way to keep in touch if somehow, one day, social media dissapears. Hard to believe but it could happen! Squarespace also integrates with video and you can embed your work as well. For me it was the one to go after a lot of research. 😍

How do you come up with a website name?

Its hard to hear you with the background music. You may want to try a different mic placement or playing with the EQ while editing. Thanks for the tips.

Hi Laura.. I'm just a beginner photographer but I have another full time job. I'm struggling with my website . Start doing it in Adobe since it comes with it along with the monthly payment but got stuck with the Google analytic g4 that links in my website . Is Google analytic is good ? Shows how many people are looking on your website. A portrait and landscape photographer and wanted to add more pics in my portfolio. Please give me some insight. I’d like to know more as well. I’m brand new to photography my interest is real estate and portraits. Need to create a portfolio and website. I plan to use the square recommendation.

Instagram is not a platform for a professional portfolio. Major magazine editors and art directors will never accept Instagram as a professional portfolio. They wont even look at it. I would know, I am one of them. We dont care about followings, someone with a million followers doesn't mean a million people will see them. about 1000 out of that million actually pay attention to who they follow.

Too much content IMO, you should split your website in two : one for your business, blog, shop, etc… and the other only for your portfolio. That’s how most high-end photographers are doing, so I guess they got something right. You can check for exemple Tin House Studio, which also have his portfolio as Scott Choucino. Cheers!
